Re: Clovis' 2025 images
It's a Merry Christmas for everyone here, Clovishound. You've been honing your skills for quite some time and these photos demonstrate it beautifully. These shots with your new lens are all perfectly focused, stopped motion and yet exposed well enough to see details in the darkest feathers of the eagles. This will be a great year for your photos. I really expect some to win you awards. Excellent work.

The head on the Eagle in flight above looks just like the Seattle Seahawks logo. Awesome.

Well, the eagles were still there yesterday morning.

Re: Clovis' 2025 images
Things were a little disappointing yesterday at Magnolia after some exciting outings there. Still, it was a nice day, had a good conversation with another CNPA member and also with a nice couple visiting from NY.
This is why I chose the 180-600 zoom over the 600mm prime lens. The prime was smaller, lighter and slightly better resolution, and a much bigger price tag. This zoom lens will focus much closer allowing me to take close up shots (although, not full on macro) with lots of distance between me and the subject. Yes, I could have gotten this shot with my 105 macro lens, but I was able to get a similar shot without digging out other gear and swapping lenses. With subjects like butterflies in flight and dragonflies, the longer lens really allows me to get shots without scaring away the subjects. Not to mention the nice soft backgrounds of a long lens.
I've been trying to get the terns in some action diving shots. This one isn't exactly what I was hoping for, but it's the best of the bunch so far. Those little guys are really fast and extremely difficult to keep in frame when they dive. This one was right on the edge of the frame.
They really are beautiful birds in flight.
This warbler was enjoying a snack in the early morning light.

Re: Clovis' 2025 images
One of my goals this year to get some good in flight duck shots. Went over to Cypress Gardens this morning to see what the wood ducks over there were up to. There were a lot there, but rather skittish this time of year. I did get a snap shot of one that got spooked when I was walking down the trail. I also got a few shots of one in a tree.
