The spray insulation guy canceled because of the heat. I just read where heat illnesses increase during periods of excess heat. I never would have figured that out.

Well I did something really stupid. I hooked my trailer up to the van and pulled it out. When I hooked the trailer up I opened the back door and the pull down rope caught caught in the door. That’s a thousand dollar mistake.

You might remember we had them put up that metal building for Tina, a double run in stall with an enclosed feed room. It was much closer to the house, and she didn't have to cross that creek that was prone to flooding in the spring and fall and icing over in the winter. Very NICE little barn and the livestock loved it. Plus, it had power run to it. A rough view before the interior panels were put up and the wiring was done.

Working behind the barn, less than two weeks after the barn was up and in use, Tina's foot slipped and she caught the back of the barn with the corner of the bucket, tearing a 1'x2' hole thru the metal siding. She was furious with herself. All I said was, we can buy a piece of siding to match, and patch it.

She looked at the siding we had on hand for other projects and didn't have any to match. The builder came up from Texas, and we weren't driving down. The two hardware stores didn't have an exact match. We could call and ask for a scrap to be sent up via Fedex or UPS but bad weather was coming. Tina used 100mph metal tape to patch the hole.

Two years later, the tape is still there, hasn't leaked a drop and she hasn't ever mentioned it again. It's her barn, and it never bothered me since "I" didn't do it and she isn't giving ME grief over it every time she sees it. Mistakes happen my friend, I guarantee you won't notice it after a few weeks.

As for the heat, I don't blame the Spray Foam guy for cancelling. Our contractor who did our job did it on a 90 degree day and they limited the Guy in the Suit to 30 - 45 minutes, then he came out, and another guy went in while the guy in the suit stripped down to shorts, and was cooled down with the hose and drank two quarts of gator aide. Sweat was pouring off him. The chemicals are toxic while being sprayed.

They did the garage, left and went to lunch. Then came back and did the woodshop. One guy knocked out the garage in a 40 minute session. Took the two man tag team to do the wood shop, but they did a great job. I wouldn't want to do an attic on a scorching day, unless I had a climate controlled suit.

I tied the strap onto the tractor and pulled it right out. It surprised me how good it looks. If you didn’t notice it was bent at one time you don’t notice it. Even knowing it you have to be two feet away to see anything.

It was too hot one day and it rained the next day. They said in high humidity the foam won’t stick to steel. We rescheduled for next week for maybe even the week after.

I left the garage peak light on tonight. It’s on a dusk to dawn sensor. It’s odd to look up the hill and see lights there. It has two LEDs each producing 4,000 lumens. It sure makes the place look bigger.

Tomorrow I’ll seal the chimney and install the storm guard. Next weak I’ll reschedule the spray foam insulation. Then it’s throw some plywood up on the lower four feet and paint it. The final part will be to buy some tool cabinets and tables.

I’ve said it before but I’m going to say it again now that there is even more to appreciate.

I’m sure the folks who drive by (not sure how much can be seen from the road) must appreciate the buildings with the lights highlighting the red color siding. I bet it looks great!
