The SHOT is now going on in Vegas, so it's likely why Imperato is "unavailable". But I plan on emailing him when he's back.
After deliberating over the choice of a .22LR lever action (Henry, Browning or Marlin) for months, and watching the live Henry Facebook events with Anthony, I finally became a 1st time Henry owner a few weeks ago with a .22LF H004. I bought it at Bass Pro, gave it a quick cursory look over and then handed it back over for them to put it through the mandatory 10 waiting period we have here in CA.
10 days later, after I pickup up the gun and brought it home, I was able to do a better inspection under normal lighting and not the subdued lighting of the Bass Pro gun department, the elation of my new purchase quickly sunk.
First, on the left side of the receiver cover, the forward flat has been over buffed to the point where there is a irregular/distorted area about 1" wide across the entire flat, where the surface is lower than the rest of the cover... plain and simple, it looks like hell.
Second, the adjustable sight notch with the white diamond that sits in the rear sight buck horn, is missing.
Immediately contacted Henry Customer Service via email outlining the issue, and got a reply from Sandra the next business day requesting a picture, which I immediate send, of the cover and rear sight. In a few hours I got a reply that a replace cover and rear sight was being sent out. So, I'm thinking wow... that's customer service. Two weeks later, the parts arrive... the new cover is perfect, the rear sight... not so much. She sent me a rear sight sight elevator ramp for an H001 rear sight... what the heck? Another email to Sandra, an immediate reply that she is sending a replacement... it's been a week and anxious to see what I get this time.
So... my take on this topic, Henry needs to get on top of what seems to be a growing problem, based on the responses seen in this thread.
No excuse for what I ended up with, making it past inspection and out the factory door.
When Henry is using their product quality and craftsmanship as a selling point... you cannot rationalize away QC issues with "great customer service", which is also not holding a lot of water with me at this point either. Kudos for a quick response... but the time that's been involved it getting what I need, now going on 3 weeks?
I have to repair a brand new yet to be fired gun... it's a good thing I have ability to do so myself, instead of needing to go through the hassle of sending back.
Will I buy another Henry... it depends. I very much like the HRA ideology, and as mentioned, realistically they are the best hope for an American made lever action that we have.
