Weighed in Sunday...
258.5
Yup, slower as we get older, but still losing. Have still managed to stick to my goal.

Still hanging in there at 157 at age 71. Can't keep any kind of treats visible in the house as a sneaky mouse will eat them all including my sandwich cheese in the fridge! Just a beer or two in the late afternoon to settle me down.

We had a mouse once that loved cough drops. There was a gap around the range hood chimney and he/she could get into the cabinet above the hood from that gap.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Wed Dec 03, 2025 9:33 amStill hanging in there at 157 at age 71. Exactly 180.0 on weigh-in Wednesday. I went from 200 to 180 in about three months and I am now stuck here for a couple months. My goal is 165.

I was at 200 lbs. a few years ago but I simply eat less and the weight has gradually come off. I'm at 170 right now but like Gene my goal is 165.
I do avoid carbs and sweets to some extent, but not altogether. I still have my Oreos in the morning.

Re: DIET is a four letter word.
The weight loss is SO slow these days. Frustrating to say the least. But I have only missed my 1500 calorie target once, by 40. I have been avoiding sweets as well, except on special occasions, then in very small amounts. One piece of pie, no ice cream at Thanksgiving.
257.0 on Sunday. Would go a lot faster if I could still run or ride a bike.

Re: DIET is a four letter word.
I was diagnosed as pre diabetic in April. I was at 210lbs. For some reason that diagnosis scared me more than my heart attacks did. I cut carbs to under 180 a day, stopped sweet tea and peanut butter cups. I am about 160 now, I was at 170 when I left the Army in 2004.
My only goal is to have a good bloodwork in February. Then I will work with the dietician to figure out how to have good stuff again in proper moderation.
It may be frustrating, but a Marine can do it if a broken Para can.

Re: DIET is a four letter word.
I had lost around 110 lbs, slow but sure. I see a weight loss doctor. I had a goal of 175 for almost 10 years. When I was promoted in my second career, I stopped walking as much and sat behind a desk more. 25 lbs came back quickly. I retired from that, but the weight remains the same. I since revised my goal to what I'm more comfortable with.
I take medications to keep the weight down. Not everyone is a candidate for them. I often forget to take the one for the afternoon, but I remain the same. I don't eat as many carbs. Meat and vegetables are the main program. I stay away from sweets as much as possible. Chips and cookies don't get much attention anymore.
Dieting is not for the faint of heart, that's for sure.
Good luck to all of those who keep trying. Hang in there, the benefits are many.

If y'all don't mind, I'll join the conversation. First of year I was up to 242 lbs. I had major dental work going on until June, so I was limited to what I could eat. Then during summer I usually lose some weight because staying busy. In September, when I went to doctor for check up, I weighed 200 lbs even. Few days ago I weighed, and I'm up to 210. So I go to get on some routine to lose that back and I'd like to get down to 190.
