Show off your Wood/Coal burners/Fireplaces

Let's see what you have, especially us northerners!!
Got one in my garage and home, both wood, house is a Buck Stove with a catalyst that helps reduce creosote and holds in heat. Supposedly 80% efficient.
I had a chimney fire about 8 years ago and had to have the whole chimney rebuilt. Put this stove invert in then. Had a stone mantle before, from the local reservoir. But had had it remade with brick and wired inside for a TV. I actually looked at pics on the net and came up with a sketch for the mason, and here it is

Large firebox Regency. Installed in '94. Glass stays clean and it heats the whole house with ease. Of course the house was built with the stove in mind. Best of both worlds. The heat of a GOOD woodstove and the beauty of a fireplace. There is a fire going right now. Once we get into cold weather it can go for many days without going out. We have to let it go out to clean it! We burn round the clock when it's cold.

Squatch that room is beautiful along with a very nice wood burner. I could have used some of the heat from that the last couple days. It feels good in here now the big hole is closed. Did you do the room yourself?

VERY nice gentlemen, a friend has a Regency and loves it. I too burn 24-7 after temps drop. Mine has a door in the bottom to an ash tray, I can clean it out without shutting down too far.
Love the wood Squatch, and Sir Henry, do you cook with that stove ? Cool!

In my garage/shop I have a boiler type wood stove that I just burn wood in. I bought it for the house since I have hot water heat, but was not cost effective to hook up. It does good heating a 30x30 block building with 12' ceilings. I have a OH gas heater also, but wood heats the floor much better, nothing feels as good as wood

We live in a log home I designed and we had built in '93-'94. It's all wood inside and out. Western Red Cedar mainly with Doug fir beams. Inside interior walls are knotty pine. Only sheetrock is in the garage.

Just after the last refinish.


You folks have some nice stoves. I tell people, "There are 100 ways to heat your home. But none are as nice to fall asleep in front of as my wood stove!"

I put this Free Flow wood stove in my shop about 6 years ago. I was made in Vermont in the early 70s and had never been used and it really puts out the heat.

I really like the design of it, Whaler. It appears to pull cool air into a heating chamber from the bottom and then release it from the top. Neat. Thanks for the photo.

Sir Henry you forgot loading the wood in the truck, then unloading, and then stacking. This warms you up also. Our new home doesn't have a woodstove. 1st time in my life I'm not heating with wood. We now have a has fireplace. I thought they were for show only, but this thing really heats the house up. Sorry that I hijacked the wood/coal burning thread, but I feel this thing works pretty good.

Right by the back door when you come in from the cold. It's in the middle of the house so it heats good.

Log home family room fireplace - stove is wood burning Quadrafire, stonework is sandstone from a creek bed two miles away, mantle is oak beam from an old collapsed grainery on the property, rifle is a Pennsylvania long from the 1820's.

Nice Tractortad. I almost bought a Quadrafire. Very similar to my Regency. I opted for the Regency as it only had 1 damper vs 2. More wife proof!
