Are you going to finish and insulate the inside walls. I did mine more for the Summer heat than the cold in the Winter. It's small enough that I can take the chill off with a couple of space heaters if I need to. On a very hot Summer day (which we seem to be getting more of, looks like were going to have a solid month or more of high 90's and 100's) before insulation by afternoon it was like walking into a oven, still hot but with the insulation not nearly so bad.

I used a roll insulation that was reasonably inexpensive, been a while but I remember it not being more than a couple hundred dollars. It's pretty thin but since it sits above the tube framing there's a 2" space empty air between it and the wall. I put some OSB over the lower section to protect it.

I was thinking spray-in foam but after seeing your pictures I might change my mind. For at least the first winter it will not be insulated. It’s going to be for storage and not a working shop. The existing three car wood frame garage down by the house will be insulated and heated for wintertime dinking around.

This project has been a time consuming one that has given me little time for doing other things. I’m now going to switch gears and do a dozen other smaller projects and maybe shoot more.

Amazing how quickly your building went up. I’ve never done a steel building before only post frame construction. Other than the trusses post frame are built on site and time consuming. I’m really liking the steel building process and if I ever put up another building (unlikely I hope) I’ll look into it.

Awesome utility trailer. Aluminum trailers look so awesome and stay that way.

I can’t believe the building is finally up. The electrician is coming next week. The field was hayed today. The garage is at the levelest spot where the tractors would turn around. Now the hayfield ends on a steep slope and they can’t traverse it. The acre of hay given up for the garage is now two acres.

I am curious what the roof load is on this design. Looks sturdy enough.

The roof load is 60 psf with 90 mph wind. The trusses are 33” center to center. It’s made from American Steel. You see a lot of these in the area especially if they are unfinished on the inside. Finished buildings are usually stick-built. A neighbor has one that was built in 1977 and it’s still structurally sound. He has repainted it once and said he will be repainting it in another year or two.

It came with two windows but I increased it to twelve.

I don't think you'll have to paint the metal siding ever. Most siding now has a 40-50 year film integrity warranty and at least a 30-year prorated chalk and fade warranty.
