Re: Garage and road project
I didn’t get the road building gravel delivered Tuesday like I had planned. It came today and I’ve only had time to give it a rough level. I need to finish it before Monday because that is when the building gets put up.
The last two loads I haven’t even touched.
Since these will be the last of the loads except for maybe two loads of 1” clean I had a final load dumped at the bottom of the driveway.

Re: Garage and road project
The latest ten loads are spread and I received over an inch of rain last night.
The side erodes at each rain. I have 30 feet of buffer so there is no danger of the building siding. Eventually the fill will become compacted and vegetation will keep it in place. Plus further back where the building is there is only a three foot drop. Here in front it’s a ten foot drop.
The road cutoff from the driveway also received an extra load of road gravel. Once compacted it turns to concrete.
The building will be erected in about 24 hours. I suspect it will take them two days.

Depends on the crew, not a large building but 3 guys delivered my 18'x24' carport with sides to the ground and they had it completed in less than 2 hours. Was like watching a choreographed dance, each guy knew exactly what to do, no wasted movements or standing around. They told me they were going to deliver and install 2 more carports that day, probably could have done more but were limited to how many they could fit on their trailer.
I enclosed the rear and front later.

Re: Garage and road project
It took 40 man hours for them to put up this building last fall. It’s 18x45’ and the new garage will be 30x50’ and will have two 10x10 garage doors, two man doors and a dozen 30x30” windows. I can’t imagine them finishing it in one day unless they work 12 hour days.dave77 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2024 2:24 pmDepends on the crew, not a large building but 3 guys delivered my 18'x24' carport with sides to the ground and they had it completed in less than 2 hours. They didn’t get very much done today although they are still here and working at 6 pm. They took a two hour lunch not realizing there wasn’t a close place to buy a taco. Then it started to rain and they sat in the truck for an hour. At least they have most of the frame up.

It’s 90% up! They should have it completed in about two hours.
The pad was wet from yesterday’s rain and will take a few days to dry out. And they tracked a lot of dirt inside plus there will be some small bits and pieces laying around.

Looks very nice. How long do you think it will take you to fill it up?

Re: Garage and road project
I suspect I’ll never fill it. I could fit eight vans inside and still be able to walk between them. The ground around it was wet and they really tracked up the floor building it. Plus the floor itself was wet. I’ll open the doors and windows when it’s not threatening to rain again.
