Mine is a 1983 ?Bronco that I bought new. It's a rusty trusty and when
you turn the key in the ignition the mice began to run around in the cab.
I doubt anyone will steal it but if they do, it's insured so go for it.

All my trucks have Manual Transmissions. In this day and age, it's an additional security measure.

We had a 1980 Ford F150 4wd with more than 400k miles on it. The kids called it Bubba Truck. We took it into the woods to haul fire wood. We hauled huge loads of hay, mulch, gravel. Pallets of grain and feed. It was a true farm truck. Dual gas tanks, four speed tranny and first gear only good to about seven mph but would pull the house off the foundation. Dented and scratched, it wasn't pretty, but Bubba was a goer.

Back in the day my dad had a 57 Chev half ton long box step side pickup. When I got my license he bought a new pickup and passed the 57 on to me with the understanding when I was done with it my brother would get it. And then when he was done our youngest brother would get it. Well it went perfectly according to plan. In fact the 1974 chev short box step side he bought new is still at my youngest brothers house. True to chevys of that time it is very rusted out with a see thru floor. And of course the fenders too. 350 with a three on the tree almost like the trucks described above but without a granny gear. Fun memories.

All my trucks have Manual Transmissions. In this day and age, it's an additional security measure.

Double sided coin on that.
I've had more manual transmission clutch wearout than auto transmission failures.
But I was replacing the clutch plates myself when I was younger and stronger.

Funny you say that. I've been shifting gears for over 50 years straight now and I never wore out a Clutch yet. I've replaced some that were worn when I bought the vehicles, but never one from new or even good used. And I used to race some of them!! I've always had full size American made vehicles, if that may have made a difference.

One of mine was a '68 Jeep CJ5. It saw a lot of beach dune use. The other a '98 Toyota Tacoma pickup used mostly for commute and material hauling for homestead projects. Both vehicles, very high mileage on them.

My grandpa was a farmer. I well remember his 1963 Chevy pickup. Almost exactly as you described except the dash had so many papers, receipts, tools etc on it that I know the dash had not seen a ray of sunlight since it was new.

I had a friend that bought a '74 Chevy Nova brand new. I do not know what GM did to those cars as many had problems with them where the prior years were just fine. He knew how to drive and had Manual Trans cars all his life. But the car went through clutches like crazy. It would wear out a clutch about every 5000 miles. GM wouldn't do anything for him, just blamed it on driver error. I changed one of them myself and everything looked fine, but that one wore out too. Craziest thing I ever saw.

My 1996 Chevy Z71 that I bought new has been now regulated to farm work........It does not have of that SILLY CRAP mentioned the first post.....27 years old and STILL doing it's job.

I brought home a ‘94 Bronco last week. Not sure it will hit 45 mph as Speedo is broken and it only has 1,2 and R at the moment. Windows do roll down, most lights work, and eventually it will have 4 tires the same size. I LOVE it!

Yup. No hard top came with it. I saw one in Seattle for $250 a few months ago, but I might just order a soft top for $500. It’s all I really need.
