I ordered some of those 325 gr Slammers from MB co., their sampler pack of 100 to give a try.
They came a couple days ago, well a few mins. ago I loaded one with 8.0 grs. of Unique.
It cycled perfectly through the Rossi, stepped out the back door and slung it at one of the gongs.
It hit low and was a very lite recoil round, I'll load some later with some 2400 as forty did.
Have to try them in Marlin also.
Got some stuff to do now maybe later this afternoon.
Thanks to forty for the enabling. :o  ;)

Haven't been at the reloading station for quite some time (have 2 cabinets full of reloads already) but I am researching how to load black powder 45 Colt cartridges. There is a BP weekend cartridge shoot in Sept and I want to shoot my 1860 Henry and 1885 Highwall.
1860 Colt SA Richards Conversion Revolver .45C
1860 Henry .45C
1885 High Wall .45C
1820-1840 Frontier Percussion .50
1790-1820 Frontier Flintlock .50

Two 60lb boxes of 38spl brass.

and 2k in older LSWC bullets

and 5,000 small rifle primers.

Not a bad haul for today.

The only thing RR is all the nooks and crannies that corrosive powder can get into in a lever gun.
I don't want any part of cleaning that every time I shoot it.
Best of luck to though sir.

I just don't bother loading 38's, just a few grs. less then 357 and I don't own a 38 spl anything.
Mark gave me 500 cases first of the year, I deprimed and cleaned them.
I loaded 50 and gave to a friend, the rest are in a coffee can.

The bullets are all from the early 90's. The boxes are marked for a special "dry lube" that was used. It feels like an early version of a spray/shake lube. They feel lube-like in the hand, so I am not too worried. These will be plinkers.

Make sure that you use black powder bullet lube and a big lube bullet if you can find one. I found that a few grains of 4198 next to the primer of my 45-70 loads and then the rest of the load a compressed charge of black powder works very well. This type of load was used when smokeless powder was new and allows many shots to be made with almost no barrel fowling. In my rolling block it is very accurate. The rule of thumb is about ten percent smokeless and the rest black.
