Our Morning Coffee and Weather

39 with a light rain falling. It’s rained pretty much continuously for two days. The community I live in is built on a ridge so there are lots of hills to deal with. Yesterday our roads turned into a sheet of ice (or so I hear as I haven’t ventured out since driving next door on Christmas Eve). I do have to make a trip into Deer Park today so I’ll get the chance to see for myself. Everywhere I plowed is also turning to ice so the poor pup has to stay in the yard as it’s too slippery out there for him. He was limping yesterday so he probably “pulled a hammie”. He’s better today thankfully but he will had to stay off the ice.

Today somehow I agreed to help completely re-organize all the Christmas stuff. A punishment worse than a slow death I think.

It started off a bit warmer today at 37°. At 10:00 a.m. it's warmed up to 43°. The high will be somewhere in the upper 50's. I cooked ham, eggs, toast and coffee this morning.

Around a 1/2 inch of rain in the goat pellet bowls this morning. Never got lower than 35 last night so the slush hasn't turned to ice yet. Going to see if I can plow some of it. Windy tonight with a predicted high of 43 tomorrow, then back to low 30's for highs and mid 20's for lows. That's our long term average for Jan. so hopefully no more very cold temps.

Down to 15 at daylight they say. Warmer tham last week but syill cold yp me. Aftet today wr have nice warm days ahead say the weathermen. Now theres a hood present says me. Coffee up and see where the day takes us.

I really need a bigger screen to type on than this phone has to offer. Or i need to learn to be a better proof ready than my previous post shows. It looks like some type of disjointed pig latin. Oh well, surely all my old english teachers have croaked by now so they will not feel any shame or embarrasment.

My phone changes things after I’ve typed it. I think it’s a conspiracy to confuse us.

I am slowly processing some Black Walnuts and Hickory nuts I collected last Fall.
I'm finding I have two different Hickory trees and one has bitter nuts.

32 and sunny hi of 56 today. Last night was last of below freezing temps. tomorrow the low is 40 and sunny high of 65 so I think I'll take the bike for a ride to get the juices flowing. The kids went back home yesterday oldest is in Greenville just a few hours away and visits often, the youngest is in northern Indiana and flew out for Christmas it was wonderful to have them both here. When the weather warms a bit up north I'll ride up to visit as it's only 11 hour ride. From Washington it was a 9 day round trip of hard riding . no plans today except a trash run and go pick up the brass from our holiday target shooting sessions, the kids love shooting the AR.

33 with a high of 40 expected. Dog just came in from the yard and he feels slightly damp so it must be misting out there again. Area’s around me set records for rain yesterday so now there’s flood watches all over. First deep snow, then sub zero temps and now record rain. Just another month in the Inland Pacific Northwest.

My son is using a riding mower mounted snow blower to keep his place passable but it bogs down too much with this deep slop that used to be snow. I am going to attempt to haul something over to his place to help move some snow. Problem is that due to the angle of my driveway to the road when pulling a trailer I can only turn right and go up to the col d sac (spelling?) at the end of the road. There I can turn around and come back down the road to the exit from our community. I need to do a scouting trip first as the end of the road may be so full of snow that I won’t be able to turn my 18’ trailer around.

Old man winter sure is a pain in the butt.

It was 43° this morning on the dog walk. Right now it's already warmed up to 57° and should reach the upper 60's this afternoon. I cooked bacon, eggs, toast and coffee for breakfast.

Heading off to get some coarse sand, after last night's wind and warmer temps my driveway and backyard paths are solid ice and very slick.

Speaking of the ghosts of Christmas past, 1983 Clearwater Florida it was 32 F. all day long with rolling brownouts . I was lucky I had a cellulose oxidizer to keep me warm.

31 heading to 35 with another winter storm advisory in place. Forecast is for 2-5” of snow between this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon. I’ll need to clean up the berms on my driveway before the snow hits. Yesterday I towed my 18’ flatbed trailer up and down it twice and with the length of the trailer and the turns in my driveway I pretty much wiped out my berms. Made it to my son’s place fine and got his big sloppy mess of melting snow cleaned up just fine.

Here shortly I’m dropping my wife off at a restaurant in Spokane where she is meeting a former co-worker for breakfast and gossip. While she’s there I plan to peruse some gun shops in the area. Main target is a Henry steel 30-30 but who knows, maybe I’ll see some primers and powder.

while its only 27 out there right now, the forecast says subfreezing temps are moving out of our area and will be gone for a while .... it will be good to switch off the camper's furnace for a while .... during the next week our daytime highs are supposed to reach into the low 70's ....hope they are right, that'll sure be nice .... nothing much on tap for the next few days

I have other things on the honey dew list that should keep me busy for a while. Hopefully I can get them done and make a rabbit stew later.

My oldest daughter lives in Buffalo, NY and I have been in constant contact with her. She and
her husband have been home bound for some time, but they're OK.
