Our Morning Coffee and Weather

Coop, from reading about how active you are you must be a very young 82. Glad you’re feeling better and the energy will return.
Starting to get some ice dams on my eves so today I’ll use my snow rake and clear off the eves. Went into Deer Park to my wife’s cousin’s place (they are snowbirds and are south) and did their eves. They have a big ice dam problem and I wish I had got the snow off sooner. Thought maybe they have a problem at their place but I noticed many of their neighbors have the same issue. So it must have been a combination of wet snow and the thaw/freeze that did it.

Ice dams are a big problem here as well. I finally solved the problem with those kits that have heating wire that
you anchor on the shingles near the eves. I have then front and back and they work well. They're low voltage so they don't
take much energy but just gradually melt away the ice.

Another warm morning. It's 76° and partly sunny. I cooked some bacon, eggs, toast and coffee this morning. Going to do a bit of work today but not much.

I’ve never used them but see them around and it’s a great idea. I’m going to suggest to the snowbirds that they put some in place next summer.

The first time I used them I had been throwing salt on the dams trying to get rid of them to no avail. I purchased
a set and using a ladder placed them on top of the ice, plugged them in, and let them melt their way in. In a
couple of days they had melted the ice right down to the shingles. Once the ice was gone I then anchored then
in place.

First time i remember this tgread being pushed clear to the second page when i went to it first thing in the morning. Shows folks are online talking about lots od stuff here. Eccellent! Should be a clear day . My son found 11 replacement cows ladt night so i dont have to ho to that special replacement cow salw at the stockyards here tomorow. That suits me just fine with all tge flu and crud going around now. So im haveing my coffee in a hsppy mood

Looks like another nice day. I let my daughter and SIL handle the farming these days. I still help, but at my own pace. I mostly help with fencing and hauling hay. Always good to be able to start the day in a good mood. Hope everybody has a good weekend.

Once again the weather folks got it right. 6.5” of heavy snow fell overnight. It’s in the high 20’s out there right now but overnight when the snow fell it was in the low 30’s so it’s a wet heavy snow. We get a break today with another snowstorm heading our way tonight with a forecast of about the same amount of snow as last night. Then next week we are back into a cold spell with lows around 12 and highs in the lower 20s.

No plans for today. (Yeah right)

Well, today we will travel into the city for lunch and then to purchase salmon filets at Costco.
Every Christmas the ladies in the neighborhood exchange baskets of goodies. Cookies, candy,
ect. What we do is brine the salmon and then a light smoke. Carol then vacuum packs pieces
of them. She makes two kinds of candy and cookies for the basket. Folks look foreword to them.

We got about 6” yesterday. Wife is headed to Seattle with her friends to Christmas shop for 4 days so up early and got the Tundra dug out. Quick espresso and I’ll get the little tractor going. Snow is so much lighter here than at the coast. Makes life a lot easier, but there is a lot more of it!

That's something I miss since retiring. I worked at a elementary school and we always brought goodies and stuff for different occasions. There was one teacher that baked almost every weekend and brought a big plate of cookies most Mondays. She made a chocolate chip cookie that was good but tasted a little strange and had a very slight burn to it. She said she added a very small amount of Cayenne pepper to them. She didn't make them very often but surprisingly they became one of my favorites.

Just another nice Minnesota day in the offing.
Coffee is good and Orios are still my favorite.
Here in land locked Minnesota, (except for the lakes and rivers of course), we have a hard time getting
good seafood. I spent over twenty years near the East Coast and I love sea food, well, there is a company from
Galveston, TX. that brings truck loads right from Galveston Bay and sells it in a parking lot not too far from here.
They're only there for two hours this morning and we plan to drive up and stock up. This will be their last trip for the
season. We get Shrimp, Oysters, and Crab Meat that is wild caught and pretty good. The only thing is the Oysters
are rather small.

45 on its way to 51 .... partly cloudy, no rain mentioned for today .... our biggest event today is going to see both of our granddaughters perform in the local theater company's presentation of the Nutcracker .... their play opened last night to a packed house and rave reviews .. .. we also hope to be able to winterize our daughter's camper

72° headed to the low 80's again today. A cool front (not cold) is supposed to move through in the early morning hours Sunday. Tomorrow should be a little cooler after the rain. The wife cooked chorizo and eggs for breakfast.

After spending most of the day yesterday moving the 6.5” of snow delivered Thursday night both here at home and at an elderly neighbors it’s coming down again. Last I checked with the ruler we had 4” but I’m sure there’s 5” out there now. It’s supposed to come down most of the day but may turn to rain later. So even tho it’s still coming down I’m heading out soon to start the removal process. Otherwise it will get too damn heavy to easily move. 30 degrees when I got up and it’s 32 and climbing now.

Trey on the patio checking out the snow depth. He’s giving me that look, “come on dad let’s shovel. You remove the snow and I’ll put it back”!

Raining pretty good here right now. All day and most of tomorrow is the report. Other than church, not much happening today. Might head out to the shop and piddle around.Nice lazy, rainy day.

Been a Rainy week here, today will be the first non rain day, but more supposedly mid week. Not much planned, should have gotten my lazy butt up and gone hunting but I didn't.
