Our Morning Coffee and Weather

Weather is still all over the place down under, big rains on top of what have been 3 wet years are seeing widespread flooding.
At the farm we have had about 17 feet of rain over the past 3 years, its damp.
A couple of weeks from summer and yesterday only made it into the 50's had sun rain wind and a dusting of snow 5 miles up the road. Last week it cracked 80, this morning in the mid 30's.

That wet my new born lambs are refusing to walk and the ewes have to carry them around

Now in my younger days on the farm we raised a
lot of sheep and I have never seen that before.

Cold. Snowing. Winter.

35º and lake effect snow. Got about 6" of wet, heavy snow. Took about and our to clear the drive and the neighbor lady's since the snow was packing up and rolling in from of the blower. Supposed to get more all night so I had to clear what was on the drive before it froze up tonight and it would have been worse. Good thing I got the front wheel bearing replaced on the lawn tractor last night.

With four inches of snow on the ground my van struggled to make it up the hill so I plowed it. Well not really plowed instead kind of graded it. I was surprised at how well the tractor gets around in the snow. The van then didn’t have any problem. My driveway is the only real problem area as the roads are well plowed and sanded.

Does your van do better in snow than your Subaru? Are you running all-seasons or dedicated snow tires? I put a set of Blizzak's on my Ranger a couple of years ago and was very impressed with them compared to other snow tires I have used.

The Subaru would do better if they had the same tires. With all the brine put down I’m not driving my Sub daily. I’ll let the van be the rust bucket. Both have new tire this fall. The van has an aggressive all-season. The tires are directional. The Sub has highway tires as it will only be driven in the summer.

31º and light snow. Predicting lake effect snow bands coming off Lake Michigan through Saturday with temps below freezing. Lawn tractor with snowblower now working so I should be ok. Glad I got all the heavy wet snow cleared off yesterday so I have a hard layer over the gravel driveway. That will keep the highway mix where it belongs. Looks like a long snowy winter this year.

due to a delay in them being able get some parts, garage door service put off until after Thanksgiving ---- which is fine with me .... currently 33 on its way to 51 .... they say tonight the temp will fall below freezing for 6 or so hours .... looks like we will need to run the camper's furnace .... right after lunch we will drive over to an abattoir (AKA -- slaughter house) and pick up 10 lbs of fresh sausage to prepare in our smoker

20 with an upper fog keeping the sun away. If this fog doesn’t burn off it’s going to be a cold day. I’m planning on making a trip the the rifle club today which is located on the bank of the Spokane river. If the fog persists it’s going to be a cold day on the range. I’m planning on sighting in/ ammo preferences for three rimfire rifles and if I’m not too frozen work on my 32 H&R load in my Single Seven. Come on sun…

I’ve shot there a few times.

And it probably looks pretty much the same as the last you were there. I took this pic yesterday.


25 and it’s looking like we may get some sun breaks today. Forecast high is 32 but we have Northeast winds coming in today that are going to put the wind chill very cold. Spent two hours outside at the range yesterday and it got pretty cold. I’ll post a range report in the proper topic. Today is probably mostly indoor stuff except for filling the wood rack on the patio. Sure going thru lots of firewood with these below normal temps we’re having.



This is the clubhouse at the range that Sir Henry frequented back in the day.

Coming from Sioux Falls today, had send Mrs. B by air ambulance to The big city. Drove there and now sitting in hospital. Hope everyone has a better day than me!
