33 heading into the 50’s for the last couple of days. Took this pic yesterday while driving home from Deer Park, this is Mount Spokane (elevation 5900’) and showing is the north side with new ski runs cut in a few years ago. It’s a state park with a lease out for the ski resort. The resort has been up there for decades.

Today and tomorrow morning are my last couple of dry days for a while so I’ll be out there getting it done.

Monsoon rains yesterday while driving through the Columbia River gorge. Currently in Idaho. 37. Hazy/sunny.

well, our home internet service (mentioned in yesterday's post) has been restored .... Spectrum has an interesting service scheduling system .... note, I didn't say an efficient one .... our daughter''s place and ours are separated by a common driveway .... service at both was interrupted by the same incident .... both required the same remedy, that being to splice two broken cables that are run side by side .... Spectrum's way of handling repairs will not allow them to send a single person .... even though the repairs were completed at the same time, they had to be handled by two different repairmen ..????.. bottom line, all's OK .... 59 on its way to 66 .... sometime before daylight had some very light rain, not enough to really wet the grass

Going to work around the property today. Walls on the new shop/pole barn and put the boat to bed I think. I’ve been out chasing white tails, but they are playing hard to get, other than the ones in my yard…

a new county sewer line is being installed in our area .... it is designed to help a massive new housing development that will be going in just down the road

That ought to make the traffic a nightmare.

no doubt .... put our home as the center of a circle with a 5 mile radius and you will find thousands of new homes under construction ..... sooner or later the market has to crash

We are not a big city, maybe 50k population and we have 2 full city blocks of high end apartments/condos and lot's of new homes going up. I believe a lot of our growth is from Seattle area residents retiring or that are able to work from home.

Morning 62° here. Only going up to 67.
Out on the trails yesterday lookin for some deer activity, and came by my favorite Beech tree. I always stop and take a pic or two.

Whatcha packin’ there Vaq? .44? We are unfortunately not allowed to handgun hunt here, so I’d have to bring my BBSC .44 Mag.

Going to do some more walls on the barn today, and then head out for the “night bite”. Tomorrow is the last day of “any whitetail” so I’d like to get one before Nov 1 when it’s just bucks. I don’t like to hunt does, but whitetail are not native here and are out competing the native mule deer, so Fish and Game has seasons on wt does to keep their numbers from getting out of control. It’s a tasty way to help out the mule deer. Below is a photo of one my friend took while it was walking past his house the other day. He’s a beauty!

Wow, just wow!

41 when I got up and it looks to be a cloudy start to the day. It’s supposed to be nice for the first part of the day with rain coming in later. Unfortunately the rain is supposed to stick around to dampen the trick or treaters tomorrow. We’re going to my wife’s cousin’s place in Deer Park where they get lots of kids. Burgers, football, beer and trick or treaters. Should be a fun evening.

Got the boat washed and put away yesterday and today I’ll put the stand up top on and set it up for battery and humidity control. Should be good for the winter. Almost done with the recreational stuff now onto the snow stuff.

Yes Red, it's a 44, and I took a small 4 point some years ago with it.
I just use them during our Reg. gun season.
Just like a little challenge from time to time.

Haven't posted in a couple of days. I got some kind of a bug. I took a COVID test yesterday and it was negative. I guess it's just some raspatory illness. Anyway, I'm feeling a bit better today but still don't have much energy. I cooked eggs, bacon, toast and coffee for breakfast.

Coffee is good this morning. I hope my day is the same. Going to see if i can get a few cull cows sorted out to sell...need to go pick up a couple of flats i left at garage to get fixed last week..... just quiet stuff.... less trouble than having to flee my homeland or something so i will stay postive about it....two weeks until deer season.....not all bad for sure

Today it will be near 70 with the 70s for the next three or four days. Then on Friday the temps drop to the 40s.
Black Rifle and cookies. I had ordered the variety pack of coffee and am settling on the SS blend. I orders some more of that.
Yard work today and wood cutting tomorrow. Perfect weather for it.

Woke up to a balmy 49, wow! Who knows, might be the high for the day as we have stormy weather moving in. Some wet snow later in the week and this morning the weather guy mentioned a possibility of measurable snow next wee. Good think I have snow equipment maintenance on the schedule for this week. Not sure what the day will bring other than my neighbor has a new lawn tractor being delivered today in a crate. The truck wouldn’t be able to turn around in his driveway so it will be dropped at the road end and I’ll move it up to his house with my tractor. I have clamp on pallet forks that work great for tasks like this.

Good morning, cloudy and overcast here this AM. Was 59° when I got up, and the predicted high is around 67.
My buddy in SA sent this pic. He and some friends have a fishing endeavor annually up there.

His commentary;

I took this photo as I was heading back home yesterday morning, to give y'all a taster of the countryside.
The little knoll on the right just below the clouds are called The Rhino / Rhino Peak and the water we fished, lies at its foot.
Strong river spawned Rainbow and Brown trout.
Bushman paintings are all over the area - they used to live here many moons ago before the black tribes murdered / chased them all and the settling whites contributed their share in the later years. The poor bastards were caught between the Basotho to the west the Zulu to the north and east and the Xhosa to the south. The white settlers were mingled in everywhere. They had no chance! Don't we all just love our histories.
Cattle and dairy farming country - sweet mountain grassland.
Exceptional beef and rich and creamy milk come from here.
Maize & sheep farming also feature.
Game in the area are predominantly , Black Wildebeest, Mountain Reedbuck , Eland , Cape Clawless & the Spotted-necked Otters , Saddle-backed Jackal, game birds and many other bird species.
Wonderful area - the people too.
The mountains are the Southern Drakensberg looking NW towards the mountain Kingdom of Lesotho.

Happy Hollow's Eve! T'was 63° this morning and now it's only 67°. Just had cereal, banana, and coffee this morning. I'm going to get a bit of work done today. I feel a lot better but not 100%.

Bucketed down here yesterday, creek in town was up then dropped then it bucketed down again before midnight.
By 12.30am there was 2 feet of water flowing down the main street. A bit of damage to houses and sheds and at least 3 cars washed away. A couple of photos from about 5.30am this morning by that time the water had dropped about 12 feet.


This one was a bit of a concern, spotted pinned against pedestrian bridge about 1.30am with hazard lights flashing. Took a while to get to it, thankfully no one inside it had washed out of a yard and hazards must have been a result of the alarm activating.
