Mine are mostly firearms and targets followed closely by the grandsons.

Re: New John Deere X380
The X380 is a lawn tractor, not crazy about ZTR’s, this old farm boy likes a steering wheel in his hands. It has the Kawasaki motor and the Tuff Tork transaxle with 1” axles and heat treated steel gears as opposed to powder metal gears. I will use it only for lawn mowing my back half acre and bagging during spring dethatching and clean up.
My JD LX178 is 24 years young, still going strong, but felt we got great service out of it and decided to replace it before a major component failure and loss of trade value.

Re: New John Deere X380
Those X model John Deere’s are great. Currently have an X350 and had an X300 in the past. Sold the 300 when we moved because I planned on a small yard. Yep, put the small yard in and used my Toro walk behind and all was good. Then Mrs. hatchdog wanted to expand the yard so I bought the 350. I guess I showed her, right?
So now I have a mower with a bagger and a bunch of garden hose to drag around since this “yard expansion” didn’t get planned for with the sprinkler system I guess she showed me, right?

Looking forward to hear how you like it when you start using it. I been comparing the X380 and the X390.My wife helps and wondering if the X390 with the hydraulic lift would make it easier on her.

Hydraulic lift is very helpful if you ever decide to put on a plow or especially a snowblower (which can get very heavy especially with wet snow).
I don't remember what model I had at work but it did have power steering which was very nice.
Looking at the JD site, the 384 and 394 with 4-wheel steering would be very helpful if you need to do a lot of tight maneuvering.
Re: New John Deere X380
I think that’s the 2 main differences in the two. 390 has hydraulic lift and power steering. Course the price goes up also.
Re: New John Deere X380
Yes, that is the difference and $1,200.00. If you need hydraulic lift then the X390 is the way to go.

Re: New John Deere X380
Checking in GeoBoy to see how you liking the X380. How comfortable is the seat? I’ve been researching the X380/X390 and the X580/X590 Series.
Re: New John Deere X380
Due to the drought in our area I only have 6.4 hours on the tractor. It is definitely larger than my LX178 and JD changed the steering layout and the tractor definitely turns sharper than my older JD. Continued happiness with my new John Deere purchase.
The seat on my X380 is very comfortable. The difference in the seat between the X380/390 and the X580/590 is 2” higher seat back height on the X5… series.

Re: New John Deere X380
Is it a lawn mower? I always thought tractors pulled plows. I have a 20 hp JD lawn mower and a 50 hp JD tractor. One cuts the grass the other works in the fields.
Re: New John Deere X380
They are called lawn or garden tractors because they can be used for more than mowing. Carts, plows, snowblowers and other attachments are available. The Happy Kaboomer wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 10:10 pmIs it a lawn mower? I always thought tractors pulled plows.
