Range Report: berm test

Post by Sir Henry » Tue May 10, 2022 2:02 pm

I took a few scoops of dirt from where my campfire pit will be and dumped it behind the gongs at 50 yards. Then I plunked for an hour. Ten minutes worth of work and an hour of testing. I think that is about right.

I need to make a few dozen more scoops to get the berm high enough.

Off to a good start. Make sure you keep the work to testing ratio the same. Testing proves out the concept and assures the final product. :D

This it a telephoto view from the shooting line. The front targets are at 25 and the distance targets are at 50 yards.

Where are you getting the dirt from Gene? Are you still going to dig down also in front of the berm?

I will some but only with a hand shovel. I’m getting the dirt from the backyard where my camping fire pit will go.

It will define the space instead of just having it in a big yard.

Gene, I think back a year or two ago when you were moving all the gravel with a shovel and wheelbarrow at your Washington place. While the shovel and wheelbarrow will never go away totally you have moved in a great direction with equipment. :D

Don’t forget about the 80 tons of rocks. 8-)

Nice looking dirt, being near the bottom of a canyon with a decent sized creek any place I dig has lots of rocks. Like the photo looking down on your place, shows the length of your garage.

Did you notice my Class A motor home is longer than my house. I can’t wait to sell it as I’ll never use it again and it looks so out of place.

Have you had any offers yet? The way the market is right now I would think you will at least break even.

I haven’t even listed it. When I do it will be for that I paid for it plus 10% Washington Sales Tax. I’m not going to give it away. Same thing with the van.

So you have 2 vans?
I remember you saying you would probably drive your van in the Winter instead of your Subaru.

Yes I have a Mercedes 350 and a Ford Transit Connect which is the van I’m going to get and the one I’ll keep as a winter beater.
