Shooting Steel Today

Post by Headhog » Mon Feb 21, 2022 4:13 pm

Beautiful day with temps. in the mid 60's F so I headed to the range. Took the Henry BBS 357 Mag and my Cimarron Pistolero as it's mate. Set up 2 trays of steel - near one at 15 yards and the far at 40-45 yds. Amazing how fast 150 rounds can go, but having fun it's all worth it. :D

Always a good day when you're burning smokeless powder. :D :D Must say that Cimarron is one fine shooter. I was able to hit those 8" steel targets at 40+ yards with out too much effort. Needless to say the Henry always does it job excellently without question.

I wish it was in my backyard. I can set up to about 35 yards in my yard but I don't like to shoot the heavy steel with large calibers. Too much noise and I respect my neighbors. I usually keep it to .22 in the yard.

Thanks Forty. My gun club range is fairly big and there usually is nobody there. i just drag the steel out and have fun. Everything in that picture I move from my truck on one hand truck. It take about 10 minutes to set up or take down.

Today there was a young fellow, at the range, shooting paper. After I got set up we both blasted the steel. He had a great time and couldn't stop thanking me.

Congratulations, it looks like you had a great day, and props for sharing the steel, I would have too. More fun to shoot with someone.

I miss shooting my steel, it's always a blast. Once I get my range up here, I'll have the plates set up and they'll likely stay. I have pepper poppers, a steel B27 and a number of swingers that I haul out as needed. Steel is great for teaching new shooters as well. Instant feedback. A cheat I learned, when the wife is ready to throw out those old cheap frying pans, don't toss them, hang them on the range. They ring for a while...
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

The paracord on the lever not only looks cool, but I bet it’s quite functional as a knuckle pad.

Hoping you heal quickly and get back to shooting.
