Well this morning I got 47 pieces of 30-30 brass sized and primed, and
got 30 loaded before the wife asked me to go on a couple errands with her.
Then after a late lunch I loaded 53 223's with some 62 gr. blems I bought from Midway last summer for 0.05 cts. each.
You may ask why 53 🤔🤔 well that's where I ran out of the CFE powder.😢
No problem :D got an extra in the cabinet, and as luck would have it...
Same lot #, :o :D So I dipped enough out to make a 54th, and said good enough.

If it's as nice temp wise around here tomorrow, I just might go to the mountain range. If I don't shoot soon, I'm gonna forget how! Well, maybe not, but, it's been awhile. Hopefully, some .45 Colt slingin' down range. Therapy!

Hope the temp cooperates for ya Tom.
Had a buddy that was coming down this weekend from St Louis to shoot for a couple days.
Trying to build up a little more, then with the ensuing weather and then another small mater,
we've canceled it for now. Oh well, heck I like shootin gongs in the rain. :D from the back porch none the less.

Yeah, sometimes life gets in the way. Have my gear on the bench and ready. If it's like this tomorroe, GONE! Probably just take my two Italian 1873's with a couple of different loads. Just need to shoot. I envy you guys that can shoot on your property. Fingers crossed. Now, it's beer thirty!

Well, after yesterdays shoot, I now have 50 empyt .45 Colt cases to load up. Going to fiddle around a bit on loads for the Pietta as it didn't shoot nearly as good as thr Uberti/Taylor's did with same exact load. :x . There's my shop assignment for the day. Have a couple of ideas.

I just decapped 60 - 70 223 cases which I will put in the tumbler tomorrow. (Not home today to keep an eye on it) Then I’ll get them loaded up for the Sept. 5th match where I will empty 66 of em’. It’s never ending cycle and I like it! And, since I use a wet tumbler I can accurately say, “rinse and repeat”! :D

De -primed, flared and primed the .45 Colt cases. Cleaned the two Italian's and decided to get a bit lazy[that ain't very hard!]. Put stuff away and figuring out what loads for that Pietta. 7.0gr Universal, 7.0gr Unique, maybe bump it up tp 8.5gr Unique. But, I'm going to get that Pietta to shoot!
Whatever loads I go with, I'll be using those T&B coated 250gr rnfp bullets. We shall see.

Well, I did get a few more 223's loaded.
Was cleaning up a bit and straightening some things.
I've seen this Lee box sitting on the shelf for quite some time.
I was thinking it was the mold for the muzzle loader, well...
I took it down and gave it a look/see, and to my surprise it's 255 gr 45 colt bullet mold. :o
Heck I don't even remember ordering it.

Guess the next time I fire up the led pot I'll have to give it a go.

I loaded my Lyman 54 caliber plains pistol about 50 times today at the range. Had a great time just hammering that steel plate at 25 yards. 30 grains of 3FG goex and a 535 ball.

KMB, those look more like an XTP's than FTX's.

I went on the high end of this since it's for the rifle. So 9.5

I will be interested to see how it shoots for you. I have a 7 or 8 lbs of HS-6 and have been using it in 40 S&W and 357. I came up with 9.2 grains for my loads under a Roze Dist. Zero bullet 158 gr HP.

I'm curious myself. I wrote Henry about the CUP and pressure (since the max seemed high) allowances on the Big Boy Classic and they wrote me a nice note back ....

FROM HENRY

We do not rate our guns by chamber pressures; however, in general Big Boys chambered for .357 Magnum can use any reputable, good-quality brands of factory standard or +P loads of .357 Magnum, or .38 Special 158 gr., with standard profile bullets (lead or semi-jacketed round-nose, semi-jacketed or jacketed flat-nose and hollow-point).

FMJ bullets are ok if they have flat tips or noses, or hollow points. Round noses are OK with soft-point bullets (non-FMJ).

If the ammunition you are considering meets these criteria, you may use it in your Henry rifle, with either the brass or the steel receiver. If you have any doubt, contact the ammunition manufacturer to verify if it meets the proper criteria.

Hogdon's data is for hand loading, and we do not recommend hand-loaded ammo due to greater risk of possible variations/errors and safety issues, in the case of improper reloading resulting in out-of-spec ammunition. If you choose to use hand-loaded ammunition anyway, make sure the resulting ammunition conforms to SAAMI specs for that type.

Ok. Loaded up 10 each of 7.0gr Unique, 7.0gr Universal, 7.5gr BE-86 and 14.0gr 2400. All with T&B 250gr coated rnfp's. Something there ought to work. And, I'll work on my trigger pull. I think that could be an issue.
