I bought 50 pcs of Starline brass, 50 Hornady 300 gr. HP bullets. Brass needs a bit of trimming, got the holder & pilot for that.
Then ran into an issue I wasn't expecting. I have a Forster Co-Ax press, that uses jaws to clamp the brass, as opposed to the standard shell holder. Turned out the jaws aren't big enough for the 45/70, so had to order that ( waiting ). Always something, LOL.

Plus, my PC crashed last nite, had to restore that, whew!!! Other that that, everything is just peachy, LOL

its 71 right now on the Colorado River near Columbus, TX .... at our destination today in Granbury, TX its currently 58 degrees and they are calling for that to be the high for today ....

Have you guys done the factory tour of the Bond Arms factory in Granbury? It would be cool to see how/where they build their O/U hand cannons, Jim.

called them this morning .... they do provide tours but require them to be scheduled 2 weeks .... with us being here only 2 days, its a no-go .... if you remind me next year and we come back to Granbury, I'll try again to book a tour

No 45-70 here so I have no idea where to start.
There are others here that do, sure some one can throw you a bone on that one.

41gr of H4198 is below Honady's listed 42.3 min for 300gr up. In their Lever Action data, and Hodgdon has 45g of IMR and H 4198 for 300g hp in their trapdoor data.
I was happy with a 29-30g load using a coated 300g cast lead bullet.
31g was to stiff for me to do much shooting.
Getting into that 1350-1400 fps any shots going beyond 200yds lost stability and started tubleing.
I can shoot the 12-1300fps 500 meters.
Bullets need to be 350-405g for that distance.

32° and the snow 2-4 inches supposedly is on the way. Got out yesterday and shot 50 rds of my
.45 acp hand loads. What a blast. 2 water jugs bit the dust. As a bonus, I actually found all the spent brass. Cheers all!

18* and supposed to be 40. That’s been an empty promise all week, we are barely getting to the mid 30’s. Beautiful sunshine but step into the shade and you will button up! Tried to knock some snow berms down but they were still frozen solid. I have a gravel driveway so when I plow some gravel gets moved. I try to get it back on the gravel area not on the lawn or the natural areas before the berms melt.

Folgers and a nice fire now and later I’m taking my wife to town for a dentist appt. Nice day for it.

43 (feels like 38) this morning in Granbury, TX on its way to 51 later today .... good to see some blue sky to our north .... they are calling for it to get down to 30 tonight .... if it does, it will be the first time we've experienced subfreezing temps on this trip .... eggs, sausage, tomato, Folgers for breakfast

It's gone up to 37 now, ( heat wave ). Got family coming in from Tulsa, in Jackson,TN now @ Cracker BBL.
Despite all that, my grass is creeping back from the dead. Be cutting grass in another month, or less.
