I got my new casefeeder setup on my Dillon 750, complete with mirror for checking the bowl. No more dealing with the DAA mini case feeder.

Finally did a laddered loading using 2400 in 41 mag. Now to get to the range and see what my rifle likes. It’s going to be interesting to compare the the Win 296 I tried earlier.

RP, I’m using the Hornady 210 XTP-HP. Interesting that Hornady doesn’t list data for 41 mag rifle but both Speer and Sierra do. And, the velocities listed in these two manuals differ greatly.

Winchester 296

Speer: 20 grains 1302 (min) and 22 grains 1412 (max)

Sierra: 18.3 grains 1550 (min) and 20.1 grains 1700 (max)

Alliant 2400

Speer: 18 grains 1605 (min) and 19 grains 1699 (max)

Sierra: 17.7 grains 1500 (min) and 19.1 1600 (max)

Both tested in a 20” rifle.

Once I find the load that groups the best I’ll run it across my chrono and find out for myself. The Sierra bullet resembles the Hornady much more so than the Speer bullet does. That could certainly create a difference in velocity.

Rainy day might just load some 45 Colt. There is room for a couple more boxes in the cabinet…

1885 High Wall .45C
