The Call of The Wild

I just saw the ad for this and watched a trailer!

Looks good and in the tradition of 'classic' adventure movies I always enjoyed when younger. Heck It kind of looks kind of 'Walt DIsney-ish' in a way but that's not a bad thing!

Harrison Ford looks like he aces the lead role!

I want to see this. Enjoyed the book as a lad. There have been 6 or 7 movies based on the book and one TV series. I've seen them all.

Call of the Wild, by Jack London.
It was the first book I read as a kid.
Absolutely loved that book.
Can't wait to see the movie.
I've always liked Harrison Ford.

I'm looking forward to seeing this re-make, too. It's a favorite, well-told short story about overcoming adversity, self-discovery, and finding freedom.

https://www.gutenberg.org/files/215/215-h/215-h.htm
Jack London; Call of the Wild wrote:Then an old wolf, gaunt and battle-scarred, came forward. Buck writhed his lips into the preliminary of a snarl, but sniffed noses with him, Whereupon the old wolf sat down, pointed nose at the moon, and broke out the long wolf howl. The others sat down and howled. And now the call came to Buck in unmistakable accents. He, too, sat down and howled. This over, he came out of his angle and the pack crowded around him, sniffing in half-friendly, half-savage manner. The leaders lifted the yelp of the pack and sprang away into the woods. The wolves swung in behind, yelping in chorus. And Buck ran with them, side by side with the wild brother, yelping as he ran.

“When this one was made the mold was broke” or something like that. A quote from the book I too read as a kid and this quote has stayed with me my entire life.

Good story for sure. I find some of the movie CGI stuff distracting these days, maybe it's just me.

Well, finally watched it tonight.
The movie relies heavily on CGI however Harrison Ford brings a traditional 'human' character to the movie. The rest of the cast are somewhat superficial.
Because it is a Disney production it has that typical 'Disney' feel and appearance but lacks the 'depth' of the older, live action movies.
Give this one an hour and a half of your life on a lazy evening with nothing better to do!

We saw it at the theatre and enjoyed it, in spite of the computer generated characters and scenery. If you're looking for a super realistic and scientifically accurate portrayal of the far north, shot on location, this is not it. If you love dogs the way we do, though, it's a winner.
