Re: Official 2016 Baseball Thread
I've been reading the weather and coffee posts. That is some wild weather. I remember one Monday Night Football game where the Seahawks were playing the Chiefs and the game was stopped because of rain and lightning. The stadium isles were rivers and the lightning was hitting all around the stadium.PT7 wrote:KC Royals vs. White Sox

Sir Henry,
Just to let you know. I answered your comment below in the "Our mornin' Coffee and Weather" forum.
Thought my somewhat longish weather comments on yesterday's severe weather fit better there.
Thanks!

Re: Official 2016 Baseball Thread
Royals were losing today to the White Sox 7-1 until the bottom of the 9th inning. Then lots of great & almost surprising ball playing happened. I watched them win the game 8-7 after batting 10 men through the roster, and it was the biggest ninth-inning comeback in Royals history. I think I heard the commentator note that the two White Sox pitchers had made +52 pitches during that final inning!
There were close to 31,000 fans at this wild game today! Wish my wife and I could have been there.
Easiest to give a brief summary from the Royals post-game news report:
KANSAS CITY -- Rookie Brett Eibner lashed a single to right off White Sox reliever Tommy Kahnle, scoring Drew Butera to cap an incredible seven-run rally in the ninth and give the Royals an 8-7 walk-off win on Saturday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium.
Eibner made his Major League debut on Friday in a come-from-behind KC win, while making his first-ever major league hit during that game.
Kansas City knocked Chicago from its perch atop the American League Central as both now sit a half-game back of first-place Cleveland. The White Sox had held the top spot since April 22 and their largest lead was five games.

Yeah, that Royals rally was something else!
How about "the code" biting the Mets in the butt today? Noah Syndergaard throws a pitch a foot behind Chase Utley in retaliation for the slide in last year's NLDS, and gets ejected. Utley goes on to homer twice and drive in 5 as the Dodgers win in a 9-1 rout.

Re: Official 2016 Baseball Thread
The KC Royals just posted another "W" in center field....but it's how they're doing it that is so much fun!
Game stats first. They have won 12 out of their last 17 games. Last night they pumped 7 runs in bottom of ninth for a comeback win against the White Sox. This afternoon they "subdued their attack," and came from behind with 3 runs in the bottom of the eighth to win the game 5-4! The rookie Eibner again played a key role in his third major league ball game. He had a walk/RBI contributing to the win -- did some great ball watching while going after that walk!
Big stat. With this win, the Royals are in 1st place in the ALC by moving 1/2 game ahead of Cleveland, and now 1 game ahead of Chicago WS. It was a fun comeback to watch. My neighbor was at the game, and I'm sure I'll here more about it in the next day or so!
KC remains at home, and hosts a series starting tomorrow with the Rays.
Now to get some R&R this evening from all this ball field excitement!

Re: Official 2016 Baseball Thread
That whole idea centers around one bad game and then one more bad inning – both against the Cardinals. The latter occurred due to the Dodgers' lack of bullpen depth, which is a problem they still haven't addressed to this day.Coach wrote:ditchparrot wrote:Kershaw is great in the regular season.Coach wrote:

Watching the Mariners clobber the Padres. Bottom of the 5th and it's Mariners 16 Padres 0. Looks like they have finally figured out how to win at home.

Royals swept a 3-game series with the Rays ending yesterday.
Right now they are playing the Indians away in Cleveland -- game 1 of a 4-game series.
And winning in the fifth inning, 3-2.
They continue to be in first place in the ALC by 1-1/2 games.
Hope the "Ws" continue!
