Henry family Dogs...let's see them

This was my best friends last evening. Jan 11th 2018, and he is missed everyday of my life. Going into the woods without him isn't much fun anymore.

It is plain hard to see a good one go. No 2 ways about it. I still miss our first dog, Bear. Best darn friend we ever had. And we are still searching for a replacement more than 20 years later.

We have and love Cavalier King Charles spaniels. Sophie the black and tan in this picture was our second and Chloe was our first. She is the Tri Color. I really miss Sophie and Chloe just passed on St Patricks day this year. We now have 2 new ones and they are great dogs but I dont think I will ever have one to replace Sophie

Here is our New Cavaliers. Sasha the ruby colored one and Jazzie the black and tan. There both great dogs. Full of love and always glad to see you.

In the years Miss T and I have been together, we have had some great dogs... there have been many, but there have been some standouts. Dogs that have stood between danger and the family. The first was a Rottie named Suzi. She was kind, loving and gentle with the family, the horses and the other dogs on the farm, but when danger called, she was a tiger protecting the family. She passed due to stomach cancer and when she began to suffer, we did the right thing and put her to sleep, holding her close.

Next up was Skinny, a Sable Shepherd who was given to us by a breeder of champion show dogs after Skinny broke a tooth and couldn't be shown any longer. I was doing protection work for the doctor and she knew Tina had lost the Rott, and might be ready for a replacement. They bonded immediately and Skinny became Tina's new service dog.

Skinny was on duty for about eight years, never failing. She was loyal and loving, willing to put it all on the line. She eventually suffered from a crippling spinal disease, and like Suzie, we were both in the Vet's office when he had to put her to sleep. The VET cried. After months with that empty hole in our home, we brought in a new candidate for Service... a Boxer we named Kelevra... Hebrew for "Bad Dog."

With Tina's training, he became a very good Service Dog.... except he never could put the puppy behind him. He did everything he was supposed to and performed flawlessly until someone would walk up and tell him how beautiful he was or talk directly to him. Then he BROKE training and did the full body WAG that boxers are known for. Tina would have to command him back on point... several times. HIS joy at being praised and getting attention would often overcome training. In addition, his energy levels were far above what we could physically disperse every day.

After about three years, our granddaughter lost HER Golden Retriever she had grown up with, purchased the month she was born. Miss Tina flew "lev" to OK to become the dog of a ten year old and live on the farm with the horses, goats, chickens and other dogs. HE was in heaven.

We just decided not to have a dog for a while.

Just ten days ago, we added a pocket size dog... Princes Fiona Pee Pee...

She is small enough to go with, where we go, kayak fishing, trips to town, and stay in the 12 x 14 kennel if we have to run to the VA for the day. So far so good....
