I've sort of though "America's Got Talent" is bit on the cheesy side, but this popped up somewhere and I think it's worth sharing. It's a song we all know and probably like, but it's hard to describe the performance.

But I wonder what it means to CODY to have gotten a chance to perform in a live show. Is this something HE wants to do? Was he excited simply because his family was excited? I don't understand autism enough to know the answers but I am concerned someone will capitalize on his situation and profit somehow. Not necessarily his family but the show for sure.

In addition to the YouTube clip, I found other videos of him performing and his mom explaining how music has basically made him a new person. Just hard to imagine how the brain works that he could be afflicted with blindness and autism and yet be a musical savant. Hard to see how this turn of events can do anything but make his life even better.

I cannot see anything negative happening. Encouragement is what everyone needs, young or old...challenged or not! That child,
Who was obviously willing and enjoying what he is able to accomplish...is the benefactor...w/o monetary gain! Beyond that...doesn't really matter!

Ernie, I had some of the same thoughts about manipulation on his part. Watching his family, that didn't seem to be the case. But what is really the difference if the parents are guiding him through this, and he is able to provide financial gains for his family/himself in order to make some ends meet; versus him not being able to do something to provide financial gains of some sort for living expenses? And I think in this situation, everyone can agree that the young gentleman isn't capable of making true decisions for the long term, in a stable manner befitting a good business/success model.
