A range report from over 15 years ago...

Post by EasyEd » Sun Apr 28, 2019 9:52 pm

Hey All,

I used to live in Vegreville Alberta. A wonderful little town - had an open air rifle/pistol range bout a mile north of town. Usual set up dirt mounds backstop wood structures to tape or staple targets to even a trap range. You commonly sat at tables and rested your rifle on sandbags pillows whatever you brought when shooting your rifle.

Now right next door was the Vegreville golf course and the seventh tee was about 20 - 25 yards away across a fence from the end table. Now I'm guessing most of you can hear what's coming next... :D Yes often somebody at the end table shooting a high power rifle is looking through a scope at a target but out of the corner of their eye watching a golfer about to tee off usually somebody they knew and waiting till he or she is at the top of their backswing and then pull the trigger and watch the golf shot and reaction.

All in good fun of course and to tell the truth I been got more than once when playing that hole but never got anybody that got me that I would admit to... ;)

These days the golfers would have had the range closed down for noise polution.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Sounds like good training both ways. Shooter learns situational awareness, golfer learns to deal with surprises. Win, win! :D

A golf course is a waste of a perfectly good rifle range.
