Re: Our mornin Coffee
I first remember that some phones were being equipped with cameras. I was against it. Now, I have a smart phone and take more pictures with it and my new tablet than I do with my good cameras. I listen to music with it, arrange my schedule with it.
The cellphone to me is becoming the tricorder of my generation. (I hope there are other trekies who will get that) I do think that people need to learn how to behave with them. The person who is in the middle of a conversation with you, who answers on the second ring or replies to a text is just rude. People stare into the screen and run into you because they are so intent on what is there. Not to mention driving.
I'm glad I have mine. I've owned two smart phones now. My next one will be carefully researched to provide me with what I want. It has to fit in a shirt pocket too. I listen to so much Iheart radio that I just upped my data plan.

Dave,
You've hit the central core of the problem with cell phone usage when you wrote:
"I do think that people need to learn how to behave with them."
When will that happen?!?
Last Monday I took my wife to downtown KCKS for an eye exam/check up. We were on the last road before the turnoff for the office street, and travel speed was at 45 mph. I was in right lane, and a car was passing me in the left lane. Just ahead at the intersection a fellow pulled his huge Crown Vic out right in front of us, blocked our two lanes, and was trying to make a left turn but was held up by oncoming traffic. The guy passing me almost hit him head on as we were very close to him when he pulled out!! The good 'ole fellow in the Crown Vic was hollering like crazy at the driver on my left, and wildly waving and still trying to talk on his cell phone! Man, was he angry because he almost got clobbered --- guess that would have interrupted his phone chat.
If it hadn't been a dangerous spot to be in, I almost would have laughed. Such is the way it is.
Be careful out there, Everyone. Have a great day!
And Dave, LLAP!

I'll get a cup at work in a few.
I hope your day goes well. Especially if you are headed to the range.
You need to tell your lady that she can make two types of coffee!
I used to make coffee for my late husband for over 30 years of marriage. We drank regular coffee, not flavored, but it is easy to make two types of it. I like my coffee black with nothing in it at all.
My husband and I make each other coffee now. We only eat dinner together twice a week due to his 24/7 work schedule (Days off unless he is forced to work OT due to no coverage.) unless he is on vacation.
My late husband used to bring me coffee and breakfast in bed on Sundays. I did it for him every single day @ 5:15 to 5:30 AM for years on end other than when he was overseas - military time.
It was sweet of your lady to bring you coffee and maybe she does not know that you don't like flavored coffee that much.

Moderators: I pushed the wrong button to reply! Ignore it and I caught it before I went to reply to this nice man here. Sorry about that!RanchRoper wrote:I detest cell phones and what they've done to our families and civilization in general. I often think what fun it would be to pin my cell to the range backboard and put a 45 Colt slug through it.
Tea time, have a great day.
We don't own any cellular telephones but if CHARTER ISP continues to mess up... I may get one to get online.
My husband dumped his years ago when he no longer needed it for his company. I tried one of his at a discounted price. So I officially have not owned one and my late husband and I never owned one.
We did have a ship to shore radio that we used on a few sail and power boats and we never had to use it.

I like some things that cost me money!Sir Henry wrote:I hate computers in general. I hate the cable service because I pay for a hundred channels just to watch the Mariners. I hate my cell phone company. I hate everything that costs me money. Except for my Henrys.![]()
And I love my morning cup of tea.
Can you watch your team online? I know that you listen to some sports on the radio like my husband does.
Does your wife watch the boob tube with all of those channels?

Dave and PT7 'NAILED IT' when it comes to some people not using cellular telephones in a proper and SAFE MANNER.
Plus many people do not use good manners when they use them. They are just plain RUDE!
I have seen yuppie, clueless parents, singles and older people in parking lots with running wild children who almost got hit by CARS/TRUCKS and BOTH freaking parents are typing or talking on their telephones and ignoring their CHILDREN. They were NOT even holding the HANDS OF YOUNG CHILDREN with 3 or 4 kids total in their group.
I think the same way when people have CALL WAITING on their land lines - house/office lines UNLESS they are waiting on a VERY IMPORTANT CALL or it is an EMERGENCY... IT IS DOWNRIGHT RUDE to take that call, cut you off and so forth.
I know some older people not just younger people who do this with CALL WAITING even if you are in a short NOT long, detailed conversation and they don't GET IT when you point blank tell them about Emily Post good manners and old school ways. This works for live conversations in person when it comes to personal and business relationships too.
I can see if a person actually USES a telephone like Dave does for pictures or music or a busy work schedule too.
Another thing, have you ever seen this at a DINNER TABLE and a couple is there, not working, and they are on the telephone or typing and IGNORING the date, guest, partner, spouse, etc. sitting ACROSS FROM THEM?!
I have seen one person do this to another and two people do it at the same table several times.
I would get up and LEAVE if someone did that to me unless it was a super important business matter or a life/death emergency!

I merged the morning coffee and the weather channel threads into one. People often talked about the weather on the coffee thread so it just makes more sense to merge them into one thread.

I'm typing this on the computer, not the phone and no one is around. Good job on combining the threads SH.
Cate, she was nice to do get me the coffee. She normally drinks flavored and knows I like plain. She forgot she made flavored is all. She adds flavored cream to hers
, so when I make plain, hers is still flavored. That was so nice to hear that you both make breakfast in bed for each other.
I'm having black coffee in my Smith and Wesson mug. I just realized I have no picture of it.
It's going to be near 80 and perfectly clear today. I'll be heading to my parents to mow the lawn after work. Another busy day ahead. I'm breaking in my new boots today too. Sore feet on the horizon. lol
I hope your day is good. Please show courtesy when you use your phone. I'm sure I don't have to tell this audience that though!
