Is this for real?
Is this for real?
Over on the Marlin site there is a link that shows that H.R.A. is making side gate loading rifles in 38-55, 30-30 and 35 Remington. Is this for real?

Ya think Henry will ever consider handguns in the old west tradition? Just a thought. Henry's reputation could maybe allow them to open new options...JEBar wrote:yep, see this thread ====> http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6696

Smart move to gain market share. HRA has been missing a huge chunk of the shooting population by not offering a side gate.

Re: Is this for real?
Hmmm...maybe too much of a Henry fan, but I AINT no cowboy either. Mag tube is fine with me. All things considered...I like it!
The less metal to metal scraping together, the better to me. If I had to always load through a gate, I think the receiver would eventually get marred up. No pinched fingers either.
I can see how it might be advantageous if I was on horse back like RR and maybe some others, but thats not me.

Re: Is this for real?
I personally think that part of the charm of the Henry is the tube.
Besides I have pinched my fingers on the Marlin enough to dislike the gate........

agree .... sounds like a sound business decision to me .... that said, I have no doubt that some new criticism by Marlin purest will surface ..RanchRoper wrote:Smart move to gain market share. HRA has been missing a huge chunk of the shooting population by not offering a side gate.

Christmas in April...
Re: Is this for real?
Well nuts. I just bought a BBSC in .41, and now they come out with this. Guess I'll have to break out the plastic again.

Re: Is this for real?
Now we have a choice...eject the tube downrange or pinch fingers...kind of an odd bunch aren't we?

Just looking around, .38-55 brass is pretty easy to find: Starline, Brownells, Grafs etc. GOOD!

For those who haven't looked yet here is the link:
https://www.henryusa.com/rifles/side-gate-lever-action/
Description says it has the standard tube load, as well as the side gate. You can load either way.

Re: Is this for real?
As soon as a blue steel Henry 30-30 with a loading gate is available, I am buying one.

Re: Is this for real?
They look like nice rifles. Some will still have an issue though, just because they are Henry. That's ok though...I will buy whatever they don't!
