New Henry?

It seems the tube load\load gate combo would give the best of two worlds (simpler loading and unloading). Rifle is not taken out of service for loading nor are live round thrown on the ground during unloading. Seems like a win-win. Looks kind of fancy though. I probably be concern with taking it to any place other than to a range.

I never understand this statement, it's a rifle/tool. Use it for what they were intended.
No matter what rifle I buy, and if it is new or used, it is going to the woods.
Sure it may get a ding or a scratch, but it's just a tool.
I guess you wouldn't consider a used gun, because it may have a scratch.
I don't intentionally beat mine up but if by some reason it gets a scratch or a ding I don't sit down and cry.
Heck any range trip could have the same effect, end of rant.

I tend to side with Vaquero. If you have a Ballard rifling Marlin in .35 Rem, KEEP IT! You won't find those everyday.

336 Ballard 35 Rem would have to be pre 53 +- or an xlr.

This could be true. I guess I see it like a Sunday go to meeting suit. Sure, I could wear a suit for hunting. But, it may not be the best choice. Likewise, of course, the rifle could be used for hunting. It just would not be my first choice. But, to each their own. This why there are so many choices.

My wife use to complain about me using the van to haul plywood. So, I got a truck. Then, she complained that there was not enough room in the truck for the whole family. I explained that is what the SUV is for. I guess you cannot win them all. Oh well.

There's more to this than just the cover, so I doubt there will be any "retrofit" for existing models.

I'm not a fan of receiver covers or brass, but this is a good looking entry into a crowded field. I'll wait for the machined BBSC version.

or really Big.

Uh, not quite - the loading gate is an integral opening machined into the receiver that interfaces with the mag tube and incorporates a spring loaded 'cover' that closes over the opening. Not quite a slap on receiver cover retrofit......

I wonder why the side loader model pictured still has the pull out tube and the tube loading port. Is the pull out tube going to be kept on the side loader models for easy unloading?
