I have my first Henry after many years of waiting. I've heard that once you have a Henry, you just want more and more.
Is that true? Are Henrys like potato chips and tattoos?

Well so far I've purchased three. Course I sold two to my buddy down the road. I can still shoot them though.

This will depend on the person and their interests.
I bought my Henry BBB .357 due to my interest in lever guns, what I had learned about Henry and the appearance, fit and finish - and mostly to replace a Winchester Trapper in .357 I was going to sell. Fortunately I really like it am very satisfied with it.
For me it will probably be my one and only as I have many guns and my interests tend to be with
Traditional and original style guns.
For example if I were interested in a lever action style rimless centerfire rifle I would probably seek out an original BLR or a Savage mod 99

Possibly at least a 2nd one. My interest was in two particular calibers. So I likely will stop at 2 Henrys for now. If Henry did a Sharps reproduction, that I would be interested in.

Well there is always that possibility.
I bought the first one ( H001) many moons ago when the kids were young,
and we have shot the bejesus out of it.
Next I wanted a 44 to go with the Rugers, found a nice used one.
Wanted a 41 mag for years and couldn't justify what the Marlin 1894's were bringing.
So when Henry brought those out I ran to get one, #3.
Now that I have three grandsons, I think a couple more 22's will find their way here sooner or later.
Dang Marlinitis was worse for me, think there's about a dozen of those around here. :D

I too will probably stop with the two calibers I have. There is room in my safe for a pretty rim fire though, if I get lucky!! :D

In my case it’s true. I bought a Golden Boy 22 and loved it so much I wanted a centerfire version. So I bought a Big Boy Brass in 357 magnum. I liked it so much I bought a Big Boy Steel Carbine in 357. I think I’m done now. LOL

I bought the Golden Boy 22, and then the Big Boy 357. I hate to sell guns to folks I don't know. But, if I did get the opportuity to sell off a few of my duplicate handguns to a few folks I could trust, (Glocks and Sigs,) now that I am no longer teaching private classes. I would turn THAT gun money into an 1860s model Henry. They are too cool.

Well said.

Just depends on the individual. For me I intially purchased a Golden Boy but later I was more attracted to the Winchester 9422 because it was actually made of steel. Being that I am old I guess lever guns really appeal to me but I decided for the most part to go with Winchester. The history and their aesthetics appealed to me more than a Big Boy. However I did just purchase a New Original Henry but here again the history was a big draw and when compared to a Uberti the one from Henry Repeating Arms appealed to me more for a number of reasons.

Ditto on the steel - AND you just HAD to remind me of the Winchester 94-22 TRAPPER I found in a PS last year and passed on!!! LOL! (and I don't even want to mention the price...)
The history and their aesthetics appealed to me more than a Big Boy.
For me the BBB I bought was kind of a 'test' purchase. I was waffling between finding a JM Marlin .357 but then the BBB showed up at a local department store and I was not going to hesitate as at the time they were not staying on the shelves long (that has changed however)
Regardless I really like mine and have no complaints!

What Mistered said.

I have more interests than money, and there are SO MANY fine guns out there. And I shoot as much Air Gun as powder, so there's that.

Same sort of thing for me as well. I bought a BBS while weighing that between a Marlin 1894 and Winchester. Later purchased the Winchester Yellow Boy and 18783 and the BBS took a trip down the road for another rifle that caught my eye. The Winchesters just appeal more to me.

Like you the Originals appeal to me also and I may end up with one eventually.
Why, and what do you like about the Henry over the Uberti :?:
I have never seen either in person, and can't tell much just from pictures.

First keep in mind I had not seen either in person before making my decision. In fact I just recently saw the first Uberti replica I’ve ever seen a week or two ago. That wasn’t even a Henry replica but it was a Uberti. I hadn’t even see an New Original Henry before making my decision. So my first advice would be to try and see them in person and compare them if at all possible. I may have been able to o that but it wouldn’t have been anywhere close to where I live.

No matter I would still have wanted to o plenty of research as well. It’s just something I do before buying almost anything. The research may not guarantee anything but it does make me feel more comfortable by doing so. The problem is that most comments are not very detailed and very few If any directly compare the two. There is however that one video on YouTube that does to some degree but it is far more detailed about the New Original Henry and not so much about the Uberti.

Anyway after looking long and hard I posted a thread elsewhere initially asking for comparisons between the Winchester 1866 and 1873 where the Uberti replicas were mentioned and people with experience with both Uberti and Miroku Winchester experience shared their experiences. So although their are both Pros and Cons with both brands the Pros for the Winchester Mirokus outweighed the Cons and the Uberti Cons would have outweighed the Pros. So I took this same information when applying it to the Henry and the New Original Henry was a more compelling choice for me.

After getting the information I received from that one thread I did also come across some of these same comments elsewhere. So I take it that although Uberti does make a fine rifle there are some things they tend to do that I would have an issue with but for others it’s not such an issue. But here again the Winchester Miroku also does some things which others find to objectionable.

When looking to get my first nice long gun I wanted a rifle with real nice looking wood. In both the case of the Winchester Miroku and the Henry Repeating Arms did this better in my opinion than the Uberti. In the case of the 1866 and 1873 I went with their shot show versions as those are Grade V/VI Walnut but that appeals to me more than the red varnished wood Uberti uses. Same here for the Henry. Henry Repeating Arms uses American Fancy Walnut and all pictures I’ve seen of the Henry Repeating Arms looks very appealing.

Uberti supposedly uses a European Walnut which I’ve read is actually grey in color with a red varnish and from comments on various forums is fairly soft and dings easy. Due to the finish they use it is harder to work out or repair.

I’m doing this in different posts because I’m on my iPad.

Uberti supposedly makes closer looking replicas. More closer to the Original with the exception it won’t have the Winchester name, but then again it doesn’t have Japan either. Winchester Miroku for instance does have a wider gap between barrel and magazine on their 1873 and 1866. Winchester Mirokus tend to have prouder looking stocks and forearms where Uberti’s seems to use closer fitting wood.

However Uberti overall fit and finish isn’t quite as good and their internals are known to be rougher as well. Uberti also either uses softer headed screws or there are more guirillas who tighten them so tight they jack them up and sometimes get them so tight you might need a gunsmith to remove them.

Thanks for the input sir.
Lot of good info, appreciate your time.
Speaking of the octagon barrels, I've noticed that even my '07 production BBB doesn't have the sharpness of my '66 Winchester Classic, or my '08 Marlin Cowboy.
