Most IMR powders are designed for use in rifle rounds as opposed to pistol cartridges.
The abbreviation IMR stands for 'Improved Military Rifle'
Most IMR powders are extruded and not flake or ball and are typically too 'slow' for MOST pistol applications.

I'd stay with Universal. Or Unique. Really liking my 8.0-8.5gr Unique and 250gr LRNFP in that .45 Colt.

What is the difference in these? Mine does not say Clays on it.

I'm guessing it's a USA/Canada labeling thing. Are the labels and load data and all the "technical info" the same?

Careful RR- Pace thyself. Many people have injured themselves doing similar exercises feeding 1-armed bandits and doing 12 oz curls.

RR, I'm thinking Hodgdon may have done away with "Clays Technology" on the label, as a lot of handloaders were getting Universal C.T. confused with plain "Clays". Totally different powders, but, similar applications. But, different as "Clays" is way faster burning. Your Universal is fine.

I bought a 4lb jug and still have lots but will restock before it is empty. Just want to make sure I get same stuff.

So after a week or so I can comfortably sit and load 50 rounds in an hour. Good enough for me, and I am not hurrying either. Take my time and check stuff. Quality not quantity. Just did another box of 50 tonight.

Now a different problem; both my Stack-On ammo cabinets are full so need another one. Good problem to have. Still have tons of brass.

Just received my 200gr lead shipment. More primers too. Good for awhile now.

RR, you have gone full tilt into handloading. Excellent! Kinda figured you'd like it.

So I sacrificed a 200 gr bullet and brass case to seat one. Could I be so lucky as to NOT have to adjust my dies for the seat and crimp? Everything measures exact same as 250 gr completed cartridge. So just adjust the powder load for 200 gr and call it good?

not missing a thing .... crimp rings are put on bullets by the manufacture so that when seated so the crimp is in the ring, the bullet will be the correct over all length
