How old I'm I? Well it takes me all day to do what I used to do all day.

I'm 57. I grew up watching Westerns.
Glad to see Westerns still seem to be a strong genre.

You're probably old if you have no idea what that is about.

Let's just say I have more "climbed hills" behind me than I have "hills to climb" ahead of me . . . :-)

When I started shooting as a kid, I used Dad's 1915 Stevens Favorite - still have it. I quickly changed to black powder firearms . . . and a pound of DuPont was seventy five cents and a tin of 100 Remington #11 caps was twenty-five cents - "grease pencils" were used to write the prices on the cans and and a gallon of gas was usually cheaper than the tin of caps . . . . and we used rotary dial phones and wee on a "party line" . . . . gosh, I'm older than the dirt they're going to shovel on top of me some day!! ;-)

I'm 65. Been a lot of places and done a lot of things. Still got places to go and things to do. If this junk body holds out. During a recent exam the doc told me "You have the heart health of a much younger man but Good Lord! What happened to the rest of you?"

Getting old ain't for the weak, that's for sure. Body breakdowns ranging from standard cuts and bruises to cancer all have tried to get me but as yet none have succeeded and I hope it's a while before they do but they leave behind very painful reminders that must be faced every day. I've heard it said that pain was nothing more than fear leaving the body. If this is true, I ain't scared of nuthin.

Got to talking about this the other day... I'm old enough that when I was in elementary school, every male child had certain things in their pockets every day... Your pocket knife and your shootin marble. Never left home without em. Some days we would add a top, others you might have your yoyo, but you always had your knife. Only little boys and... "girls" ... Left the house without a pocket knife. :D

I remember waiting up in the den with all my cousins at my aunt's house at her moon landing party to watch them walk on the moon. I managed to stay awake to hear those words, "One small step for man..."

i remember thinking what a gyp it was, waiting up all that time for that fuzzy, grainy picture. I went to bed. My cousin John came to bed much later. I woke up when he climbed into the top bunk.

"Is it over?" I asked.

"Still going, but lots of stuff from the News Folk. You should have stayed up, the picture cleared up."

" Yeah? "

"Yeah"

I rolled over and fell back to sleep, too tired to care. ;)
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

I ain't sayin', but :

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith
I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
