I adjusted the seating and crimp...was a little too deep. Much better now. Looks like factory.

I can see how a long tube full of primers would not be fun going off all at once. Anyhow I put one in the cup by hand...no big deal and easy. For me a little bit of hands on is good to keep focused. Handle primer, visual powder check, check crimp and primer for flush...all good habits for me.

I don't quite get this die at station 4. It comes with kit but says optional. Seems redundant. It does not feel like its doing anything and even says that.

Guess can't hurt to have a final quality control station.

That just crimps the round. It does not seat bullet at all. These are handy to use. It is adjustable for light, med or heavy crimp. Easy to use. You'll like it. BTW, what OAL[over all length] are you at? 250gr LRNFP correct?

The 3rd die seats and crimps, and the 4th die looks like a safety check for size and crimp.

Got another 300+ brass cases going in the tumbler this morning. I put in a little brass polish just to keep you guys happy. This afternoon I will load a few rounds. As per the manual 6.5 gr of Universal. Start with that and see where it goes from there.

just curious .... at your place how far do you have to go to test fire .... when loading and shooting a few test rounds at a time it sure is handy to be able to fire them in you own back yard

The third die seats and crimps? That's a new one on me. I got Lee Four Die Sets, which included the Factory Crimp Die as part of the process...You want to crimp for sure, but I'm unfamiliar with the Lee die that does both...

Range is 10 minutes away. I will take a box of factory too and just shoot some targets.

Unless I'm missing something. I had a seated and crimped bullet come out of the 3rd die. ??

Hmm. As part of your tune-up/debugging, you might take a dummy round that you've seated, then set up your Factory Crimp die and run a couple through so you can see the difference. For revolvers, it seems like the seater die is good enough.

I think you WILL see a difference, so it's just a matter of preference, I guess. If you're getting enough of a crimp from your seating die to ensure that the rounds in the mag tube aren't going to move that bullet, then you're good to go. The factory crimp is just a bit of extra insurance for tube-fed rounds, as i understand it.

I use a crimp die because I don't crimp during the seating process.
One or the other, not both.

As for crimp I followed the setup directions. Will stick with that for now.

When Crimping jusing the seating die a common case length is important. The Lee Factory crimp die is more forgiving of different case lengths.

I am measuring 40.10mm OAL

Die set says 40.64mm

Case length says 32.64mm

Measured a dozen random...all 32.29 to 32.40
