Left the Chicago area around 1989. If I was still around, I would have enjoyed going to the fest. Some of the first hunting I ever did was for pheasant in the flat lands of Illinois. Most were pen raised birds though. If you didn't have a dog, you practically had to step on them for them to get up.

Bought my Remington 870 12 ga. Magnum back then for that purpose.

Used to go out to that huge Schaumburg mall from Elmhurst often. Was the fest near there?

Lastly...the fella you ran into looks familiar; just not sure who he is, ( my ignorance maybe ), and if that is you as I assume, it's always nice to put a face on those we correspond with!! Bet you had a great time... :D :D

Great pics!!!
A nice introduction from Asia, whenever that was, unlike the pests that came over from Europe, I think it was. "Starlings" I go through tons of pellets to dispatch them. They go through the wife's suet cakes like buzz saws!!

Yeah. The Starlings have just returned to CT. Gangs of 'em; just like Grackles and Red-wing Blackbirds, they come in hoards and terrorize the bird feeders. If I could, I'd shoot 'em all, too. They're more of a pest than the Squirrels, which I actually don't mind, anymore.

The Robins have been gathering in my neighborhood during the last week. I don't know if they are getting ready to head north or going further south.

Dahlia,
Can't say that I blame Ya. Just didn't want to insult you if you liked where you are.
I personally, after 20 years of it, could not get out quick enough! I hope you choose somewhere nice to go and find a way to make it happen. FWIW there is a Ross DFL in arden NC, a few minutes from here. :D

BTW, have not seen the show, so don't know of Steve Rinella. ;)

Sounds like a fun trip to look forward to. Have always wanted to try Sporting Clays also. Seems like it would be a fun challenge!

We get to shoot Clay's at NRA days! The better half and myself compete with each other every year. After 2 years we are still tied.
The show is on Netflix, he hunts everywhere. He then processes his harvest, then cooks it. There are some shows that are totally dedicated to just cooking wild game. So I'm all ears!!!!

So off topic, I signed up for my Appleseed project for this April. So I'll be looking forward to getting my riflewoman patch, hopefully.
I'm also signed up for a deer hunting and processing class for later in March.
