Evan and I went through very similar thought processes in choosing a cleaning method. I also got the Lee universal Decapper. I use it in a Lee handheld press, quick and easy.

RR, I am sure you will walk your own path on this. That is part of the fun.

I have several hundred rounds waiting to go out and play. And, I have put up a few hundred serious hunting loads. It is great to be able to depend on what I want to use.

If you are going to wet tumble brass it needs to be de-capped before doing so.
Brass should be sized, deprimed & trimmed (if necessary for the caliber) before tumbling.
End of story...

You don't mean to imply that you put dirty brass casings up into your resizing die, do you?

One thing to remember; tumbling brass for reloading is prolly the most talked about but least important aspect of reloading...

When and how you tumble is a personal preference thing.

No - I perform a 'pre-cleaning' before sizing and depriming I have previously described.

Case tumbling/cleaning seems to fall into the same category as gun cleaning/lubing. It doesn't matter how or when you do it, it just matters that you do it.

yep .... once your equipment and supplies arrive, I'm looking forward to seeing your pile of loaded ammo grow ... just curious, did you keep your old ammo boxes .... if not, it might be good to get some on order ..

I kept lots of boxes...and each time I shoot the brass goes in this tub so another box is ready to fill.

suggest you get something like stick-on file folder labels .... I like to write basic info like date loaded, powder, bullet on each box .... doing so helps me rotate inventory .... should I have anything different (powder, charge, etc) it helps me keep them straight

I bought cardboard cartridge boxes from Midway USA and labeled them on the end flaps and the top with info about the Headstamp, Primer, and Times Fired. Once I reload the brass, I put a slip-on "cigar ring" label around the box with the loading data (bullet, powder, and powder weight).

That is pretty organized. I have lots of boxes and will probably just mark them.

After sorting through my brass yesterday it is about 75% Winchester. The rest is Starline and whatever Sellier Bellot uses.

another housekeeping item that I no longer pay much attention to .. .. right now you have new factory ammo and once fired brass .... for hunting, we only load new brass .... I used to try and keep my fired brass segregated in different buckets by how many times they had been fired .... doing so quickly got to be more cumbersome and for range use, than it was worth to me .... I visually inspect each casing prior to resizing/depriming and don't care how many times they have been loaded/fired ....

Same here, even for hunting ammo. If I were loading for competition, that would be a different story. But I'm not, so I don't. I inspect the cases, and as long as they are in good condition, load 'em and shoot 'em.

Different question: you guys that reload in your house.....concerns about static around the powder? My wife and I light up right now walking around the carpets due to the extreme cold dry winter. Guess a humidifier would be a good idea.
