Pres. Anthony Imperato wants his customer to be "completely satisfied." You already know the turnaround is not that bad for Henry service. I'd do it a second time, and definitely would let Dee know it hasn't been done right on a new rifle. Make sure she gets your photos, too. They tell the story better than words.

Well I received my rifle back today and I have to say my reaction is a bit mixed. They did fix the loose forearm which was the biggest issue. However the areas where the blueing was missing and the big gap on the stock were not fixed. I’ve attached a few pictures here, what do you think? I really don’t want to send it in again because I like the rifle but I don’t like having the bluing missing or the wood not matching up with the metal.

Thanks, I did send photos of the issues with the areas circled and a detailed description of the issues the first time. They did tighten the forearm up but they didn’t fix the other issues or even touch up the bluing like the notes said they did. I guess I’ll give it a try again and see what happens.

Vt...98...couple of questions: How does it shoot, now that you have it back? Does it function correctly? Just wonderin'? What sights are you going to use? Once you have the sights you want...do a test target at 100 yds and let us know if its accurate.

I haven’t done any long range tests with it yet but at 25 yards sighting it in was plenty accurate to kick some cans across the yard. I plan to use this with the iron sights, maybe add a peep sight at some point but probably keep it pretty much stock.

I’m waiting to hear back from Henry though, I don’t like the idea of the blueing issue not being addressed (not to mention it rusted where it was missing even though I oiled it down before sending it off). I’m hoping they will get things fixed this time or just send me a new gun as I am ready to keep it for good. Supposed to rain off and on the next 10 days here so I probably won’t get any additional chances to shoot it before sending it off again.

Hmmm I reached out to Dee last week after receiving my gun back (Wednesday) and still haven’t heard anything back. She previously was pretty quick to respond.

OP- this rifle is designed to fire ammunition. if looking for an heirloom purchase a Uberti. i suggest putting a case of ammo through your HRA before deciding it's got issues.

The OP bought a 'new' Henry. He should get what he paid for, not a blem nor one is 'used' condition.

it's a matter of perspective. i've owned a lot of defective firearms that needed to go back to manufacturers for repair or in 3-4 cases a replacement. reality is that across the board, current quality control for major firearms manufacturers is very poor. there are a handful that have their ducks in a row. if i purchased a $700 henry that has a few nicks or 2mm offset on the wood-steel interface, I wouldn't care so long as it shoots well and cycles smoothly. last year I sold my Uberti 1873 and can say without question that is a "pride-of-ownership" rifle whereas the HRA is a worker. since I treat my firearms like tools I got rid of that Uberti. it was too pretty for me.

as pointed out above HRA has great customer service so I would expect them to address these issues if the OP feels strongly about it. most other manufacturers would play games or end up doing nothing. maybe Ruger is on par with Henry's service, but the rest are way behind.

I already put several boxes of ammonia through it, I like the way it shoots and initial accuracy seems to be good. However, paying $700 for a rifle that has several spots with blueing completely gone, a loose forearm (fixed now) and wood that doesn’t match up closely with the steel is something I want fixed. My guns aren’t safe queens, I use them and take good care of them, but I don’t want a brand new $700 gun looking like it’s used straight out of the box. I’ve filled out a form and will be sending it in to see what happens this time. If it’s still not resolved I’ll just deal with it.

I have several Marlin 30-30 lever actions I bought a few years ago from the 70s and 80s. Other than some blueing missing due to age/use they are in great shape with no loose wood and perfectly matched steel to wood everywhere, paid about $300 for each.

Rare...but sorry to see such a disgruntled Henry purchaser. I still feel sure vtyler that...( even as inconvenient as the process might be )...Henry USA will do right by you!

Well the gun made it back to Henry today, crossing my fingers on it this time!

Great news! I received the gun back this time and I’m very happy! I ended up requesting they just swap it for a new one and I’m quite happy with the results! Checked the gun over, no damage to the blueing, the forestock was firm with no play, much better wood to metal transitions and a nicer wood grain as well! I actually like the grain on this one better than my original one. Here’s some pics! Now all I have to do is get outside and test her out (when it stops raining that is lol).
