The creek's a risen !

Post by fortyshooter » Tue Feb 19, 2019 10:16 am

While out at the range yesterday I took a walk down to the little creek known as the Black Branch.
From the rains last couple days she was movin along and high.
This unique spot I call Blackwood Rapids!

We have a bunch of rain coming over the rest of the week which will only add to the flow.
Think I will build a little boat and see how it handles the rooty rapids!

That about a class 0.3 run? I think my kayak would make it. :D
Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Yeah you might make it for a while but some beavers are doing construction work a little farther down steam!

It's a relaxing little area where deer and other critters like to hang out.

Looks like this next storm will be affecting a lot of us. Covers a huge area.

We've had our fair share of it also.
Started in again around 1:00 and suppose to do it till tomorrow evening.
6-8 inches more like we need more.

This was the last time our creek really rose back in 2010.
They only time it has ever been into the main street, 4 feet of water flowing down the street carrying silage bales, bins even had a portaloo float past.
The 1852 flood may have been as big but gold hadnt been discovered and the town wasnt here.
Water came up amazingly fast took only minutes from the creek breaking it banks to water in the street and about 2min from a trickle in the street to 4 feet of water.

Lived in Va for twenty years and loved it. Looks like a spot where we used to fish trout.
