Stallion rides to the Range

Post by PT7 » Fri Jan 25, 2019 3:50 pm

I wasn't planning to go to the range today. But along comes the unexpected. A friend of mine from my church called and said he had a vacation day, and wanted to do "due diligence" with his CCW pistol . Late last year we shot together when he had just bought the pistol, and he had a lot of chambering issues the first time out. He thought possibly it was the ammo type he was using. Were the JHPs he used causing the FTFs? This range visit he bought new Winchester 380 Auto 95gr FMJs. They worked just fine, and he was spot on to his POAs. He said he had a great day off work, and was glad to solve his problem along with shooting well. I treated him to lunch afterwards and we talked firearms.

It just so happens I had to bring my Uberti Stallion .22LR revolver with me. ;) Love shooting this very accurate six gun. Shot off hand at 7 yards, 20 rounds of CCI .22LR 40gr Mini-Mags CPRN (1235fps). Used again an inverted 6" triangle. Shot #1 was in the triangle, but on the black line near the two POIs just off to the right. Always look for shot #1 to be a good one. I've found Bandit's suggestion to try this triangle really helpful to me getting on target.

My friend wants to shoot more often. So I volunteered to keep him company whenever! Had an all-around fun range day with the Stallion.

Nice work, Bob! Will give your inverted triangle a try on my next outing. No doubt it will work with rifles from longer ranges, too. Great looking target!

Nice 22 shooter there! I have one of those Heritage Arms 22 six shooters and it's great to just pop the targets using the CCI Quiets!
