Your "Favorite" Henry...
Your "Favorite" Henry...
I'm sure many of you have seen and/or participated in posts like this over the years on different forums:
"If your house were burning down and you could only save one gun..."
"What's your favorite [insert GUN BRAND here]?
When I was big into Sigs, my answer was always "...the last Sig I shot at the range..." because they were all great and for different reasons.
So, in that vein, for those of you with more than one Henry, Do you have a favorite, and, if so, why?
My answer (today, anyway) would be my Big Boy Steel 357, because: 1. it was my first Henry; 2. It's the Henry I've shot the most and feel most confident in; 3. Because it's been shot the most, it's the smoothest/most broken in; and 4. It's the Henry that introduced my to reloading.
A month from how, something else may be the "favorite kid," who knows?
Anybody else?

I'm thinking it will be my BB steel in .45 Colt REAL soon. Nothing wrong withe my BB brass in .357, just something about the .45 Colt.

I have a BBB 357, BBS Carbine 357 and a Golden Boy 22LR. I love them all but if I could only have one it would be the Golden Boy because 22LR ammo is so cheap to shoot.

Re: Your "Favorite" Henry...
I own two Henrys; a Classic H001 and a .357 BBB. For several of the same reasons that you'd select your BBS, I choose my BBB.
It's the Henry I've shot the most and feel most confident in and it's the Henry that introduced me to reloading.
However, each time I shoot that H001, I can't help but marvel at what a great rifle it is. It shoots every brand of ammo that I've fed it with an accuracy that is good enough for me.

Re: Your "Favorite" Henry...
Between the lever action 30-30, single shot .243 and single shot 45-70, it has to be the 45-70. It's been flawless in every way, hasn't even bent its hammer expander, like the .243 did
. Of course, that's all subject to change, there's a single shot 30-30 on order. Or one of the other two might step up and do something extraordinary
.
Re: Your "Favorite" Henry...
This is easy. Having only one. But, the 357 steel carbine is simply the best. Light, short and maneuverable. Very capable in the woods or at home. Love my rifle.
Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

I love all God's creatures, some are better with gravy.

My Henry Brass .30-30. It's the firearm I've invested the most into.

Yeah, that's a magical combination right there. It didn't exist when I bought my 357, but there's no turning back now.BigAl52 wrote:The last Henry I bought. Havent even shot it yet but The CCH Carbine in 357 would be out the door with me.

Re: Your "Favorite" Henry...
we are very fond of all 3 of our Henry rifles .... if forced to save only 1of our Henry rilfes, it would be our CCH 45-70 .... we've spent a considerable sum taming its recoil along with other upgrades .... it is the centerfire rifle I need and fire the least .... that said, its one I'd truly hate to part with ....
