Started raining hard last night, and rained thru to mid morning, but gentle temps. Mid fifties by the afternoon. Rain cleared and the sun came out. I helped Miss T by cutting out some heavy boards for a project for her bunny hutch. Once the sun was shining she was out in the hutch putting her nesting boxes together.

A sad morning for us, we finally retired the Stoneware Mugs after more than 25 years. We bought them the first year we were married. The poor things had been standing duty almost daily, and they had gotten to the point where when the hot coffee or tea hit them they weeped a bit from the bottom for just a second. (A stoneware piddle? ) I washed and dried them one last time and now they are standing "Pencil" duty on the various desks in the house. Mug Retirement?

Now Miss T is drinking out of her Hot Flashes mug, and I'm trying to find a go to mug. This morning I used a souvenir mug from the Chesapeake Bay, a high relief mug with all the species of Birds in that area on it. Not microwave safe due to the bright colors on the birds, so I don't think it has a chance.

Coffee in the Mary Lou's News mug. Sorry to hear about your stoneware mugs marine. Sounds like standing pencil duty is fitting retirement instead of trash duty. I hope you find a fitting replacement. I'm not going to broach Miss T's mug.(lol)

Work later, they announced my promotion late last night, so I can move along with some things I needed to get on with. It actually was in place the first of the year but not announced until I was just about walking out last night.

Here in KCMO Northland it was 8* real temp at 6am with wind chill at about nine below zero. My oldest daughter lives one hour north of me, and they were predicted overnight wind chill at minus-24*! Kinda chilly.

Looks like the sun will be shining today, and that will bring some warmth with it.
Sure is fresh air out there!

Her "Hot Flashes" mug was picked up at a Cracker Barrel on our November trip to OK and back. I spotted it in the souvenir mug rack and picked up one for her and one for her bestest buddy next door who kept an eye on the critters for the eight days we were gone. Miss T says she has bern going thru "Mental-pause" for the last ten years. I believe it.

The mug says:

"I'm still hot, now it just comes in flashes."

She and Tami next door both Loved the mugs. The cackles could be heard in the south pasture.

Slow getting to the HRF rounds this morning/afternoon. Went to into town for breakfast and some other errands.

43. High overcast. Sun breaks now then. Maybe 47 later. Nice fire in the wood stove. Nap attack coming on.

It's 28 here this morning, but they are calling for a cold spell to sweep thru over the next couple days. Single digit overnight lows.
Good thing I'm not in a shelter half somewhere. Did that a few times in my younger days, with nothing to snuggle but an M16.
(I often chose to sleep in the Helo... "Guarding the Stores," ) so to speak.

Coffee in an Orvis Rainbow Trout mug. I miss the two cup stoneware mug... Guess I will have to look for another large stein style coffee mug. Miss T will balk, I have a large collection of mugs from my two careers. Hey, they aren't for drinkin, they are for lookin. Plus, they are one cup... Cups.

30 and sunny - and I just came down from the roof for a mid-winter stove pipe cleaning. Not usually necessary but I got some really 'greasy' wood this year and had a creosote blockage so I disassembled all the inside stove pipe yesterday afternoon and knocked it out this morning.

I had to do the roof thing last year. The grate in the chimney cap got plugged. Spider webs trapped the soot. Steep metal roof in the damp fall weather is slippery!

Was almost 50F yesterday. Today in the 30's with a bit of snow. Cleaned my guns yesterday, might take a ride in the hills later.
