Our Morning Coffee and Weather

On the eastern slope of the Rockies where we live winds of 100 kms/hr or more are frequent. It is not unusual to be under a wind warning for several days. Every time a Chinook blows we get mild temps and high winds.

Although local ground winds may have been different, at the time of your post the warm wet was coming from the SW.

Very windy and getting windier. Gusts are about 45 mph and the wind is coming from the north. Very unusual because winds from the north are always slow, cold and dry. This warm wet wind should be coming from the southwest.

Nice morning, temps around 25F and wind has dropped for a bit. Chores, then tea time.

Our winds came from 2 different quarters yesterday. Damages include: Ripped pool cover, flashings missing from barn roof, plastic roof over one of the Airstreams shredded, and lots and lots of debris to clean up!

Today is clear, low 30s and deadcalm!

We get weather backflow out of the Columbia River gorge frequently. So I understand what localized weather convergence can do.

Later I could see the main wind was not from the north. I live in a weather convergence and often the weather is much worse around me.

Glad you're safe. We had a bit of nasty few days ago. Only damage was to an old Alder tree that broke off. Didn't hit anything. During the storm lots of fir cones and small branches bouncing off the metal roof all night made it like being at a gun range. Lot of debris here too.

35 today, broken clouds and STILL 'waffling' on which Jeep to sell - the Cherokee or the TJ - Took the TJ out whipping it around in what little snow we have - then took the Cherokee out and realize it's 'practicality' - hmm..............

I think you can't beat a Jeep original. I'd have one if I didn't have to haul a trailer around.

For the winter, must have tea time before and after chores. Gets you warmed up to go out and warmed back up coming in.

It snowed just a trace last night. It's going to hover around the low 30's f today. A decent chance for a white Christmas with the L word predicted for Christmas Eve. L word being Lake Effect. It just depends where you are when the wind blows across the great Lakes. 2 - 4 predicted.

28F today and a little snow flurry. Just got back from a ride with Dakota. Breezy but an ok day.

34 at daylight, up to 57 as this is being typed .... all in all, a beautiful day in the neighborhood .... just got back from towing our camper 3 miles and setting it up at our oldest son's home for Christmas ..... its parked on the edge of a large field and as is pretty much normal, the one tree near us blocks the satellite signal to our roof mounted dish .. .. no big deal our VuQube is setup with a 93 signal .... .... we will spend the night here at home and go back over to the camper sometime tomorrow afternoon

Up early and it's going to stay around the freezing mark. Roads salted for the small flurry from last night.

No work today. I'm using my last full day off of the year to hopefully take it a little easy. It was a tough year. We may be having a large crew for dinner or just us, hard to gauge. I know we are on the hook for dessert for everyone for tonight.
I'm prepared for any and all possibilities. On the bright side, I found out how simple good peanut brittle is to make. I also made a spicy, Sandra Bullock, recipe peanut brittle. That will help you take notice.
