H004 at 4000 rounds!
H004 at 4000 rounds!
I just hit the 4000 round mark on my H004 Golden Boy 22LR! I've had it since March 2017. It is
hands down my favorite firearm. Today I purchased a rimfire resetting steel target made by
Birchwood Casey. (See pic below.) I shot 275 rounds at that thing today and had a blast! I found that
high velocity rounds hit a little too hard to make the bottom plates land on the top rail. They would
just bounce back and hang down. I tried some CCI 29gr HP short rounds and they worked perfectly!
Plus I could load 22 rounds in the magazine.

That's great diano
Let us know how that target works out. I've been looking at some of them, as cans are not always available.
That one looks sturdy. Most of the bad reviews were based on the movements or lack of movements of the targets, not getting "shot apart". One person gave it a bad review cause it was difficult to remove from the packaging.
But please let us know what you think, and good luck...

So far it's worked very well. I have purchased other rimfire steel targets and they have all
been very flimsy. This one has a much thicker frame than the others. No signs of bending or
denting yet. I think it will last for a long time.

we have one and that has been our experience .... we tried shooting from longer distances but haven't found one that works for usdeano5150 wrote:I found that high velocity rounds hit a little too hard to make the bottom plates land on the top rail. They would

I shot a few rounds of CCI Standard Velocity and that worked well, too.
I was shooting from about 17 yards.

I use the same target. Try leaning it a little further forward. It may help with the bounce back.
Re: H004 at 4000 rounds!
Looks like fun, thanks for sharing. Seems like varying your distance would help make the targets do what you want them to, but I'm not familiar enough with what happens, ballistically, with a 22LR at, say 25, 50, 75 yds. Would be neat to experiment and see what happens.
4,000 rounds is a big number, good for you!

Good ideas to try. I’ll test them out next time I go. Thanks, guys!

my compliments .... we don't get many reports from folks who have fired thousands of rounds through their Henry rifles .... our experience has been that Henry builds their rifles to stand up to heavy use for several lifetimes ....deano5150 wrote:I just hit the 4000 round mark on my H004 Golden Boy 22LR!
Re: H004 at 4000 rounds!
Sounds like you've enjoyed that GB a lot, Deano. I have some ground to cover to catch your 4000-round total. I got my H001TLP SGC in March 2016, and have put 2400 almost-faultless-rounds downrange so far. Great Henry rimfire for me, as I'm sure your GB suits you just fine.
Keep on shootin' that hot, smokin' barrel
Enjoy.

I’m mostly just a plinker and I love the Golden Boy. I’m now up to 4100 rounds. I bought the rifle in March 2017 for my (now) 11 year old daughter and I to have fun with. It’s a little too heavy for her to shoot off hand but propped on our range bag she’s a little sharpshooter. Fun times!
