It did - it was really bad this morning in the LaPine/Bend areas. Cleared out in Bend in the afternoon but it was still bad to the South. I had visible blue smoke hanging in the trees when I got home.

Our house overlooks our bottom land and that is the smokey view we had across it into the trees until mid yesterday too.

I saw the evac alert on the news yesterday. Figured you must be seeing a lot of that smoke where you are. The past two days have been blue sky’s again here at the coast, but today is gray again. It’s 56* right now and supposed to only hit around 70* for the next week, with 60% chance of showers. We won’t see any rain out of that I don’t think. The cooler temps are a welcome relief as it’s been in the 90s since June.

Certainly hope the rain knocked down the fire in GNP. I have fond memories of there.

Here, 42'F last night, maybe low 70's today. First cup of tea then off to the grocery store.

Apparently I spoke too soon... it just started to rain here! It’s the first precip we’ve had in over two months! Awesome to see.

Lot of Henry Folk have talked this summer about our need for rain. That's been true. But also know that the people living on the big island of Hawaii sure do need some prayer now as Lane has reportedly dumped nearly 36 inches in a quite short time span! That's a yard stick length....whoa!

More rain is predicted, and reports possible indicate the flooding could become substantially worse than is already happening. That much rain water is very hard to imagine....never have experienced anything like that here in the Midwest.

I can't imagine what it would be like to get that much rain. Around here it's unusual to get even 1 inch in a short time and even that seems like very heavy rainfall.

I used to live where 12” in 24 hours is not uncommon. If the ground is used to rain and can absorb it, it’s not so bad, but 36” is a LOT of rain.

None of those boats have turn signals. Must have been a few gunwale benders! Are things mostly back to normal there now, or is there still a lot of evidence of the flooding?

The temps in our area have been brutal, high nineties mostly. The last few days, they have dropped into the high fifties and low sixties in the late evenings and overnights. We have turned off the ac and opened the windows, running the whole house fan to drop the internal temps and keep them down. We leave the windows open during the day, but draw the shades. No ac for the last four days.

There are some, especially in the Dickinson, Tx area that are still rebuilding. A lot of people are selling homes at auction (Meyerland area) and moving out of the city.

As former Hurricane Lane is moving away from Hawaii, what remains behind could have been a lot worse if the hurricane hadn't remained relatively "mild" in its wind force.

But the comment made by the senator who represents Hilo says volumes about the astonishing amount of rain water that was dumped by Lane: "It was almost biblical proportions." Water measurement taken at Hilo showed there were 45 inches dropped by the hurricane

On the home front here in MO, when I went out to feed the birds this morning the high humidity really walloped me. At the moment, although the temp is at 78* heading toward a high of 96* today, the humidity is 84% with a dewpoint of 71. Will be mostly hanging inside today just to be able to comfortably breathe! Most thankful for the hum of the A/C running.
