It's been very smokey here also, article in the paper said because the humidity has been higher it makes it easier to fight the fires but also means that the material burning creates more smoke. A little cooler the last few days but muggy.

Pretty smoky in Bend today - about the worst day so far this summer. Predicted a little better tomorrow but we shall see!

After the weekend rain, ended up with a solid 2" in the rain gauge --- and in my area it was delivered "gently." Areas in downtown KC experienced some flooding. Dry for a couple of days, then more rain predicted Thurs-Friday.

Ouch! Back to humid and hot temps (97-98*) on the weekend. Still grateful to have rain and a taste of early fall this week with the cooler temps.

Another stretch of nice weather. Cool and cloudy with passing showers last couple of days. Few more fall like days then back into the heat this weekend but it's been a welcome reprieve. Green grass in the pastures a very welcome sight after a couple months of burnt brown. Sure hope the fire and smoke conditions improve for you folks out West.

86° at 9:00 CST with 73% humidity. Forecast near 100 today. I took this picture last evening while walking dogs. A storm was coming in from the north. I've never seen a difference in the color of the sky like this before. Looks as if someone drew a line in the sky.

I hear that, no rain here since early Spring. We usually get at least one or two downpours in the Summer but so far this year nothing.

Weather fronts on the move again. Yesterday, and today so far, there has been no rain. Temps starting the day are quite pleasant. I went to fill the birdfeeder earlier with temp at 64* --- yup, nice and cool.

Rain moving in again tomorrow for a couple of days, then a return of summer with most of next week back into the lower 90s. I'm gonna enjoy today for sure!

Ready for breakfast and a second Henry mug filled with my double mocha.

Smoke thick here again. Went out for dinner yesterday. Thought it was about sunset time but still had another hour to go. Sun was very orange. Air very thick and dirty. Restaurant was not seating anyone out doors. Today supposed to be mid 70's and cloudy. Cloudy usually means coast air moving in, so hopefully smoke moves east.

Just came in from patio after checking rain gauge. The gentle rain yesterday yielded another 6/10" of needed water. We're getting a small handle on the drought conditions.

Overnight the humidity and heat rolled back in. Currently, 90% humidity with temp predicted today to reach 93*; weekend temps predicted to hover at 97* once more. So our summertime starts up again. Have a good weekend.

I think we maybe out of the afternoon boomer mode for a while and its a good thing. Ive never seen as much hail damage as we have had this year. Mid 80's and low 90's for the next 10 days.

Cooled off some. 60's. Smoke was thick all week. Northeast wind today pushing it to BC and south. Tea in Henry mug. Not doing much today.

rainy and cool. no fishing today. Might hit the range instead. On my second cup. Waiting on the wife to return from the reservation. Her dad is not feeling well. He is a tribal elder(86) and they watch him very closely. Interesting fact. My wife's family can trace their ancestry back to the late 1780's when the Ojibwa's meant French trappers. The family spent two years going through tribal records, censes records, oral accounts, etc. They even have a French nobleman in the family tree. I married royalty !! Third cup, take care.

Cloudy coastal air did move in and push the smoke out. Between clouds really clear blue sky. Might make 70'F today. Almost finished with tea then heading out.

RAIN

Lot of Henry Folk have talked this summer about our need for rain. That's been true. But also know that the people living on the big island of Hawaii sure do need some prayer now as Lane has reportedly dumped nearly 36 inches in a quite short time span! That's a yard stick length....whoa!

More rain is predicted, and reports possible indicate the flooding could become substantially worse than is already happening. That much rain water is very hard to imagine....never have experienced anything like that here in the Midwest.
