That’s a great way to see the country BD. I surfed and traveled in Mexico years ago with a fishing guide from a Corpus Christie. I’ve always wanted to see PINS and a bunch of other Texas spots. I’ll get down there eventually. BC is amazing in the spring through fall, and some parts (very southwest corner) are decent in winter. We only get one or maybe two snowfalls where I am, and they only last a day or so on the ground. Any more than that and I’m not too keen!

Just a suggestion, since I think your cool travel story of Canada and the lake shot will get lost in the "coffee and weather" thread. The weather thread to me "disappears" and is rarely re-visited.

In the "Hobbies" Forum, there is the sub-Forum titled "Photography - Amateur and Professional." This post and photo you made will not be quite as "lost," if you re-posted it there. I'm certain many Henry Folk & visitors look through the photos thread, and would enjoy your story and Cold Lake photo.

I was a contract photographer for Best Western Hotels. I traveled from Ontario to BC and lower Alaska photographing hotels. With Texas plates on my car I'd get stopped often - and had several beers with Mounties after they got off work. Total time up north was about 2 months. The wine country in BC was unforgetable.
Fell in love with Canada, but then someone would show me a picture of their home in January. Too much snow for a Texas boy.

I'm retired now and living on the Texas Gulf Coast - Corpus Christi area. 100F is common, but 40F is about as low as it gets in the winter.

Nippy this morning, 45'F. Maybe make high 70's today. With the Canadian Geese over flights and the nipper mornings I think fall is coming early. Finishing up the tea and then heading out.

It’s cool here at the border too. 57 this morning. Smoke seems to have cleared out (heading your way RanchRoper!?), but there is some cloud around. Still going to be upper to mid 70s all weekend and next week, but autumn is definitely in the air!

Just finished my 50/50 espresso home brew, and off to work. I’m building a house for a huntbuddy, and currently working on his secret gun room. It’s going to be pretty darn cool!

Good morning guys...I haven't posted for a year or so. I check in frequently but have not posted.

It's 62 here in the San Francisco Bay Area with a sea breeze. When the fog burns off it's slated to be in the low 90's where I live.

The Smoke from the fires has dissipated quite a bit.

Just read an MSN Weather report on some rain water possibly heading to my neck of the woods. Here is the report title and one paragraph mentioning KCMO:

Heavy rain, storms to pummel central U.S. into Monday.

"On Sunday and Sunday night, areas farther east will be in line for a thorough soaking and could face localized flooding problems. This includes in Pierre, South Dakota; Omaha, Nebraska; and Kansas City, Missouri."

I'd definitely, along with many other folk, like a soaking w/out serious flooding. Shall see what happens late tomorrow. Last night's local KC weather still kept us listed in the "extremely severe" level of the drought conditions. So we yet need some rain.

You guys in the 'Valley' have been running several degrees cooler on the average from us in the 'East' side. It hit 95 today - and was supposed to only be like 89. I had wood to split and stack but it can wait.

I've noticed. With the cooler/hot alternating temps here it feels like mid to late Sept already. With the over flights of Canadian Geese and the increased beaver activity in the creek, it is definitely already mid to late Sept. here. Wife said in town she saw trees already turning. Not looking forward to an early fall with return of the gray and dreary that lasts until mid June next year. As we get older the 'east side' is looking better because of more sun days in the year.

Late start to the morning. It's about 10:30 a.m. here and on second cup of joe. 89° with 63% humidity with winds about 13 mph out of the SW. Don't really know how hot it's supposed to get today but would guess mid 90's. I have a first cousin out in the Seattle area and the smoke from the fires has been driving her son, Evan, nuts. He's Down syndrome and has a lot of issues anyway but seems to have his respiratory system all messed up.

Hotel coffee today - OK, but could be better. I'm spending the week at Port Isable South Padre Island - Mexico is easy to see from here. Yesterday it was 95 and the pool and beach were full. Talked briefly with a couple from Belgum - he was as a prime candidate for a sunburn.
Several tourists were flamingly red, covered with salt and were enjoying the beer.
Cooler today, buy I suspect some of those who were red yesterday will be staying in.

The celebration is the 1-8/10" rain water in my gauge this morning! Late yesterday there was a mostly gentle rain that lasted over six hours, and created no flooding issues in our area. Certain that the soil absorbed this water well.

More rain predicted today. We'll take every drop!

No rain yet but maybe today. Temps in the 60's. Cool nights are helping settle wildfires down a little. Sounds like a big one in Glacier park now on US side.

The smoke has drifted out to the coast in a big way today. Only about 3/4 mile visibility this morning. Im loving the cooler nights!

Smoke is bad here again. Very hazy. Was supposed to be high 90's today, but the smoke has blocked so much sun light we just made 79. So dim it's like dusk all day long.
