I bought a Weaver scope for my .357 Henry, and I mounted it today during the afternoon rain. The only identification on the left side of the scope shows "Weaver V4.5-A USA." No other markings that I can find. Of course, I'm not an expert, but this scope looks to be in very good condition.
Brief background on sights for this Big Boy.
I've never had a rifle with a scope before, although I've tried out a couple of my friend's rifles. The only other optic I once mounted on this Henry was a red dot. But took it off for two reasons. First, the scope really didn't seem to fit with the classic look of the lever-action rifle; and second, the big DUH. I sure had a brain drain when I bought the red dot, because I have partial color blindness.
OK, now that the big DUH has been confessed.
Next to the range.
I've done nothing further than mounting the Weaver. I'm looking forward to trying it out -- when we again have a break from the spring rains.
Here are pictures of my leap into uncharted waters!
