Temps in the 90's last few days. Low 80's now. Dry in the back country. Need rain.

Re: Our mornin Coffee and Weather
Severe thunderstorm warnings all around KCMO this afternoon. Then the whole line made a sweeping turn and headed SE before they hit our Northland region. Some good MO folk down there got the rain, plus lots of hail, too. Nary of drop of water for us again! Temps ramping back up to above normal over the next days.
One of these days we'll be watered once more. Reminds me a little of the late 19th KS farmer in the movie "Skylark." He and his family were going through a prolonged drought, which was serious to the point where people were losing their farms and moving away. The image that was so expressive of the drought was the farmer watching the empty, dusty glass his son put on top of a fence pole, waiting for the rain to fill it. Think I need to put a glass on my distressed wood bench out on the patio.

Re: Our mornin Coffee and Weather
Having my second cup before I head to the farm for the day, currently 34 going for a top of 39.
Looks like a better day than yesterday that started with a bit of slushy snow and then rain and ice showers coming through for most of the day.
Farm is at 2600 feet so we get a bit of snow most years but not a lot that hangs about, once you get above 3500 it is fairly regular and above 5500 currently has around 36" snow depth.

Snow fall sounds like about what we get here in the Pacific NW during our winters. Stay dry and warmly bundled.

It was 38 this morning until I hit the Sunriver Grade on my way to Bend - and I was driving my Jeep (sans top) - felt pretty good actually - I like the cool mornings here. But it was about 92 on my way home!
Re: Our mornin Coffee and Weather
Several years ago, one of many camping trip to La Pine State Campground, in mid July we were ill prepared for snow and cold. Since we were expecting the really hot weather from camping trips there prior, we did not bring any winter clothes. Trip to Bend to buy pants and jackets. The light dusting stuck around a couple days, even so it never really warmed up to the hot we were expecting on that trip.

Ditto this - many years ago camping on July 3rd at Miller Lake - 13 " of snow.Several years ago, one of many camping trip to La Pine State Campground,
Several years later - camping at Paulina Lake on July 3rd - 4" of snow.
And just a few years ago 4" on Memorial Day weekend camping just East of Sunriver!
Re: Our mornin Coffee and Weather
For many years took boys to camp for a week at a time at Lava Beds Nat'l Monument in N. California. We'd take a day and go up to Medicine Lake for a swim. One year we headed there and was blocked by a huge snow drift still across the highway. On the way home we decided to spend a night at Crater Lake camp ground. The camp ground had just opened late for the summer season. Only few sites had the snow plowed out for camping. We have our tent pitched on cleared ground with several feet of snow surrounding and the biggest nastiest mosquitoes. Still cold and all that snow, tough bugs.

Coffee with plain Jane and then off to part time job.
I hope everyone continues to enjoy a nice weekend.
