I actually read about the material on here, ... I knew it was some sort of alloy just wasn't sure what exactly.

Found the earlier topic on Zamak. Les identified it as Zamak 5. The strongest useful.

I had to read your post a few times. So this is the better replacement wood that Henry sells? And then you refinished it?
I agree with you on wanting to make it your own. Turned out great! Good job!

This is not the fancy wood, I just got lucky with a replacement set.
And yes, I refinished the new wood.
The factory finish hid the character of the wood, so I had to fix that!

Nice job on the rifle and stock. I wonder if all the stocks have that kind of grain.

Some do some don't, some get lucky and end up with beautiful wood right out of the box.
Others have plain straight grain like mine did in the first picture

I was looking through some photos of my Uberti and found this one; some of the Uberti wood is no so hot, but mine isn't too bad for a stained stock right out of the box. Got some character marks on it now too....

Thanks! I really like yours as well, such a classic design! There's alot of beauty in the wood on yours! Having done several rifles like this that had a tinted poly finish, the Tru-oil really "wakes" the wood grain up and makes it pop. Photo's don't do mine justice, there is lots of depth and an almost prismatic look to the wood. It's a very simple process should you ever decide to refinish yours!

I like what you have done to the stock and receiver cover and barrel band. I believe the front sight/tube hanger can also be polished on newer rifles. Older rifles had a plastic front sight.

Thank you sir, this one is an older one but does have the Zamak barrel band and steel front sight. I left the sight alone because I was afraid it would look strange polished, and being blued steel instead of Zamak, it would be hard to get it all to match
