Shooting like it was 1860s

Pictures help us "see" what shooting was like in the 1860s. These are cool.

I like to read short historical pieces on Old West guns like this:

It was fun to see the Russian mentioned in the #8 gun paragraph. Learned who "packed" the Russian model back then.

I agree with you NCG. I might also add that what many of us traditionalist need to do is introduce the traditional blackpowder shooting to the younger shooters. Alot of the younger crowd only knows the spray and pray method of an AR-15 or a semi auto handgun. Its kind of like history class in school anymore most kids now a days have no clue about anything to do with WW 2. Like Ruhler mention the camaraderie that goes on behind the firing line is informative and fun. I agree you can go to the range stressed and come away relaxed its that much fun. Ive got revolvers and flintlocks I havent shot. I need more time. Its coming soon.

Well no video but here is the Renegade I restored. I was lucky and retained most of the blue. The stock will get a refinish later but for now it's a great shooter!

Cool TC. I always favored the looks of the Renegade over the gaudier Hawken. To me, the Renegade always looked more authentic.

Yep - the Renegade is/was a very good rifle. Well made with excellent fit and finish and the early models had Douglas Supreme barrels which are highly sought after now.
