New Gun Fever

Well, it's that time again. I've got a case of new gun fever. I realize there's no cure, or even an effective treatment. Eventually I will need to feed the addiction. Now, I don't actually "need" a new gun. I just NEED a new gun.

I'm trying to forestall the inevitable. Some ideas I have so far include trying different ammo in guns I already have, dusting off and shooting a gun I haven't used in awhile, going to a different range, shooting while standing on my head...

Any suggestions are welcome.

I need more room to store firearms. I have too many already and have to thin the herd before buying more. Well the Long Ranger is an exception to that. I have room for just one more.

EDIT: One gun that really has me tempted is a steel Big Boy in .357/.38.

I agree, ditto. Around here, they are extremely scarce. In checking all the local gun shops, I can find a brass full size and carbine in .357/.38 and I can find the steel Big Boys in full size and carbine in .45 Colt and .44 mag. But, there are no steel Big Boys in .357/.38 to be found.

I was even talking to one of the salespeople in a local shop this week. He told me he has been dying for a steel Big Boy in .357/38 and can't find one.

I will just bide my time, one will show up eventually.

EDIT: One gun that really has me tempted is a steel Big Boy in .357/.38.

I can very safely say that the H012M is an excellent Henry rifle....good choice, if you go for it. I had one, but unfortunately I had to sell mine to meet some budget issues. Not only is the lever-action super smooth, it is a very accurate, easy-to-shoot centerfire. And for me, the wood furniture with the fine checkering was beautiful.

I don't know anything about the H012MR model, but I bet it would be a great choice, too. I have the SGC in .22LR (H001TLP), and it is very well-balanced and great to shoot. I'd bet anything it would similar handling for the .357 shorter-barreled steel carbine.

Keep us posted and it will be neat to find out how you "chamber your addiction" this go-around!


P.S. Just an FYI. I just checked, and there are both of these .357 rifles available at Bud's Gun Shop in KY.

New Gun Fever; I'm chronic cause I always look but never buy. But I do have two legitimate needs:

1) Current 9mm is in perfect shape and has < 500 rds through it, but is 70+ years old.

2) Something to fill the gap between bolt action .22WMR and bolt action .308, that is NOT a bolt action

A Henry steel 30-30 would be a great "something".
