Another rough night for Braves fans. Braves were out of the game early, and did nothing to try and mount a comeback...not that they could. Game of streaks for the Braves this year. They started the season on a 9 game losing streak, then went on a 4 game winning streak, now they are in an 8 game losing streak. Worse record in baseball. Too bad really, Gonzalez the head coach, will not last much longer. The upper management will not take the blame for the lack of talented players, so the coach must go. I doubt if Freddie makes it another week. Ah such is the soap opera that is the Braves. The soap opera is titled, "As the stomach turns".

Royals lost the last 3 games, and the series, to the Angels (must be that 'ole time change!).
Heading north for the next 3-game weekend series with the Mariners.

The Phillies shut out the Nationals and are playing good baseball, now, hope this is a sign of things to come as compared to last season. The Yankees have their big rivalry this weekend with the Red Sox.

You can't loose them all.

Tonight the M's start a three game series with the Royals. The M's have been playing good ball and have been winning against teams with loosing records. The Royals will be the first tough team we play this year and will be a real test of their merit.

Are you close enough to get to one or more of these games, SH?
We're only about 30 minutes or so from Kauffman Stadium.

Anyway, Enjoy!

Yes I'm only 30 minutes away also but on game days that can take two hours. People think shooting is expensive but the last time I took Donna to a ballgame it cost me $200. I use to go a dozen times a year but now I'm lucky if I go once. Donna is well enough to go now.

My wife and I have gone once each season since I retired here 4 years ago. Yet to plan for this year. And you're absolutely right -- quite an expensive outing. But we've enjoyed being at the ballpark on "dollar night" for the $1 hotdogs and peanuts. ;)

There were some interesting and very fun games we saw in person. One year was the 12-1 win over the Yankees. We went with a group of baseball fans from our church, and the outing was planned by the pastor. He is a dyed-in-the-wool Yankees fan, and wanted everyone to see the Yankees play (as he said) the "local farm team," aka KC Royals.

Another season, we went to the last regular home game. Pretty boring and slow, until the 10th inning. KC won 4-zip with a grand slam. Sure happened very fast, and that afternoon I missed the tv replays of that winning homer!!

Of course, last year it was great to watch a WS Championship Team play ball! :D

Most important, glad to hear your wife is better now.
Have a good day.

M's - 1, /Royals - 0

Good squeaking, SH. My wife and I just watched the game this morning...too late last night and I recorded it.
KC just left too many runners on base.

Yes, good game!

The Braves win streak ended a one when they lost to Chicago on Friday. The Braves did not lose yesterday, Mother Nature won and the game was postponed. The Braves will most likely fire Fredi Gonzalez before the end of May, maybe in the next week or so. I know the players cannot be fired, but heck, the team that our vaunted front office put together is a team of old guys, misfits, and young guys with little to no big league experience. Too bad we cannot fire the "geniuses" who put this team together. While I don't believe Fredi is the best manager in the league, he certainly deserved a better team than he was given.

Just watching the recorded game now, in the 7th inning, and the M's are definitively winning!
From your comment, guess I can turn the recording off since I now know the ending!

Sixth inning was not pretty with two batters hit by pitches...glad no injuries, and that both teams kept their cool.
I still hold to the time change as the culprit..... ;)

For the M's to travel to the east coast they have to get up three hours early. If they have a daytime midweek game they start 10 am our time.

The Yankees are playing lousy ball, the Phillies are playing good ball, they just swept the weekend series with the Indians. It helps to have a favorite in each league sometimes. :D

KC just broke their 5-game losing streak!
Royals 4 -- Mariners 1
Mariners took the series 2-1.

Standings right now -- the Royals are 3 out of the ALC lead. White Sox are in 1st place playing well.

But what a "beat-up" series this weekend! I can't recall exactly, but there were around 5-6 batters (maybe more) hit by bad pitches during this series. Still glad that nobody seriously hurt, and all the fellows kept their cool!

Royals head home and meet the Nationals for three games, M-W this week.
Everyone is usually glad "to be home."
