it didn't take very long watching today's race at Sonoma to remind me of why I really don't care much for road courses .... pitiful few green flag passes for the lead, I only remember 1 but its possible there could have been more while I was dozing .... as a driver, I'd enjoy road racing but not as a spectator .... congrats to Truex, his crew chief's last pit call won the race for him

I agree, I'm no fan of Road Course Racing either.

A lot of us feel that way and they go and add another one to boot.

That said, glad to see Truex win another.

As a Aussie I actually enjoy the road courses more then the ovals, would love to see a few more of our young drivers head over and have a crack at some of the road races.
Ambrose certainly had no trouble with them while he was there although it seems nascar ruined him for our V8's. Only raced a few times qualifying at the back of the grid before retiring on his return to Aus.
A one off appearance might not be totally out of the question seeing as Penske have a stake in one of the V8 teams here in Aus, I know they took one of the drivers to Indy this year for a look about.

Always liked Marcos Ambrose.

Let us know how he got "ruined" for your V-8's.

I'm going to guess that I'm not the only one who doesn't understand.

Thanks

He left Aus as the dominant driver, 2 championships 2 thirds and 8th in his rookie season in 5 years. Over 100 top 10 finishes from about 130 race starts and finished on the podium in better than 50% of starts.
On his return he struggled, couldn't qualify any better than the back of the grid and struggled for race pace. He stepped down as a driver part way through his return season.

His return did coincide with Penske buying 51% of DJR, Penske/DJR have been the dominate team over the past few seasons. The young Kiwi they have driving looks every bit as good as Ambrose in his prime, great with the media and not afraid of a bit of rubbing. Would have won the championship last year only copped a penalty in the final race after putting a competitor into the wall. I think he would probably do as well or better than Ambrose in Nascar, he is in the right place with Penske/DJR to make it happen if he decides to have a go.

for my money FOX provides the best race coverage .... I don't care for Darryl Waltrip at all, wish they would replace him .... the other fellows on the coverage team do a good job .... in the last few years I've seen Jr work in the booth and he's done OK .... I believe he will be an asset

I agree that Fox is much better at it. When there is a problem on the track, they will sometimes show us about 6 or 7 different angles. With NBC, we will be lucky to get 2 or 3. I've seen times where they just about missed the whole thing. Fox also has more knowledge about the cars and the mechanics of them. Many may not like DW, but he is a wealth of knowledge as is Larry Mac and others. I wasn't much of a Jeff Gordon fan and I didn't like how he bumped Larry aside, but have to say that he's done a pretty good job at it. I would have liked to see Jr at Fox, but NBC really needs him. He will give them a boost they need. Only now, they need to invest in a few more cameras.

I figured the Kyle Busch haters wouldn't like that one, lol.

Like Jr said, once it got to be a beatin' and bangin' thing, it's fair game.

Larson was also cool with it and gave the thumbs up to boot.

Not a hater just don’t like a driver who wrecks someone to win. And Kyle Bush is still a classless POC. Has been since he entered the series. Driving down local roads here in the local area at over 100 mph and laughing about it. Like I said POC.

Kyle Larson is a pretty nice guy and he was nice to say it, but in his interview he said how he likes racing Kyle Busch and he would have done the same thing if it were the other way around. Remember, Larson got into Busch first and knocked him into the wall.

That said, I'm not a fan of bump and run either, no matter who it is, but this one was a little different.

Yeah, but Larson is a young man who seems to drive with a conscience. When he brushed Bush it was racing. Bush Raming him from behind was not racing. Larson may have just put him on notice. If Larson returns the favor this season let’s see if the shrub will take it like a man as Larson did. Given his past history I don’t think so.
I like drivers who race for the win but don’t drive through the winner to take it. Guys like Mark Martin, Dale Jarrett, Bobble Labonte, to name a few. Guys who knew that racing for a win is good but dumping someone to win was wrong. I miss the drivers that made the sport worth watching. Bush and the other childish drivers like him make the sport less honorable.

Why is it that fans don't seem to like KB so well but seem to be the same folks that liked DE Sr so much? He, it seems to me, was the worst about using his bumper to move people out of the way for a win. Just wondering.

Didn’t like Earnhardt driving through people to win either.
